Going: Good to Firm, Good in places

In a below average race, David Pipe’s Armenian Boy is taken as the selection. He recorded a nice win last time on his hurdles debut when short for room but still recovering to run on well past the well fancied favourite Arafan. On betting his two main dangers look to be Alan King’s Dan Bouy and Peter Bowen’s Particle. The rest look nothing special. Dan Bouy won well on his hurdles debut but subsequently disappointed when beaten 50 lengths be Elusive Dream. That was a much better race than today, but that run made him look very one paced. For that reason, I think he can be opposed. As for Particle, the 8/1 price looks very tight. The horse was beaten over 60 lengths on his hurdles debut and didn’t seem to improve that much on his 2nd run. He finished 3rd to Levitski that day, and although the winner was quite decent, I think he would have had to finish closer to get close to Armenian Boy today. I think one that might run well at a big price is bottom weight, Orphina. She never got competitive on her last run over hurdles, but with the assistance of hold up specialist Timmy Murphy and a couple of prep runs on the flat, she may run well. WIN NAP - Armenian Boy
