Stewarts Jumpers

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Some of you may remember that I started a specialist thread for the poor races on the flat. Some of you may also know that I am not particularly keen on the flat, especially at this time of year. So, I have decided to take the plunge and start a thread for my main jumps bets too. They will not specifically focus on any type of races. I do have a liking for Novice Hurdles though so you may see them featuring quite often.

I was going to wait until the Charlie Hall in November before starting this thread but saw woodie’s thread and thought, what the hell. Fancy one or two tomorrow at Market Rasen anyway so here goes.

Bets may be BACKS or LAYS

Starting Bank will be 200 pts.

Re: Stewarts Jumpers OK, first selections are tomorrow. Some races I will go through every horse and then give a summary, some I will just analyse.

Market Rasen 13:35

Steve Appleby 50th Birthday Novices' Hurdle

£7000.00 added, 4yo plus, 2m 1f 110y, Class 4, £4796.00 penalty

12 runners

Going: Good

Dan Bouy – Trainer always has to be respected in these events, did all was asked of him on his hurdling bow last month. Reached peak rating of 73 on the level but he may well be better over obstacles under Alan King. Good chance

French Opera – Top combination of Nicky Henderson and Micky Fitz. Beat David Pipe’s Sabre Hongrois on his hurdling debut 188 days ago. Sabre Hongrois has won twice and been placed once since. Has had 2 runs on the flat since to freshen him up. He is only rated 59 on the flat but good claims today.

King Kasyapa – Another top trainer and jockey combination. Had 2 runs over jumps, 1 win and 1 4th. Rated 71 over the flat and others look to have better chances.

Summer Lodge – Unseated on hurdle debut. Made amends by winning last time out over Course and Distance. Looks as if he may struggle today.

Any Offer – Long absence, last run in a seller, can be ruled out.

Breaking Shadow – Sprinter on the flat, been on the downgrade recently. Trainer unknown, makes his debut today. May find it a bit tough.

Elusive Dream – Classy horse on the flat for Sir Mark Prescott. Hasn’t raced for over a year. Rated 104 on the flat. Makes the switch to jumping under champion trainer Paul Nicholls. Ruby takes the ride, likely favourite. Likely winner but inexperience is a worry.

Medic – The most experienced of the field. Was placed 3 times last year, nice re-appearance but poor run last time. Graham Lee on board. May be vulnerable to an improver from a better yard.

Star of Canterbury – Ran creditably first time out when he ran into a nice improver. Would need to improve to figure but capable.

Turn Me On, Volaticus, Tiana Blue – Cant see them getting involved today.

Summary – I think we can safely narrow it down to 3 main contenders: Dan Buoy, French Opera and Elusive Dream. Think Dan Bouy is the least likely of the three but will check prices in the morning.
