It was nice to meet Kev (kippe), Amie (Rosco's pimp :lol), and Gary (McFook's brother) as well as the usual suspects. :cheers :cheers :cheers The first part of the competition was a shoot out with the top 2 qualifying for a 2 table MTT, with points awarded depending on the finishing position in your STT (and then you got extra points for your finishing position in the 2 table MTT). We did well in this part, but not well enough with too many players unfortunately bubbling in 3rd but our high finishing positions meant that at the half way stage we were sitting in 3rd. However we only had one qualifier for the final MTT (Pocket Lady :clap) and so the pressure was on her to finish high up in that, but all was not lost anyway as there was a £10 headhunter MTT running alongside for the remaining 'losers', and for every scalp you took you not only won £5 for yourself but 1pt towards your team total. Pocket Lady finished a creditable 10th in her final, and we all agreed she did a sterling job and had we got one or two more players then things would have looked good for us, however we didn't really perform very well in the headhunters, taking no where near enough scalps to maintain our high position and we ended up 4th or 5th (I think). On a personal note, I finished joint first in the headhunters, winning a seat to the Virgin Festival. It was unfortunate that my tournament was one of a short stack finishing well, rather than getting hands early doors in order to take scalps. At one stage when the blinds were 200/400 I was down to around 1k in chips in the BB when I had pretty much given up on the tourney so I blind called a raise and a call. I had a shorter stack covered by 100 chips and so was in a side pot for 200. I flipped my cards over and the poker gods punished me by giving me 52os (or very similar). In the side pot I was up against 84os and the short stack had Ace-x and I was on my way out. The flop came Q 6 10 6 Q and I was out. :sad As I got up from my seat and the side pot was being passed to the other player I noticed that I was playing the board AND so was the big stack, and so I demanded my 100 chip back and sat back down. I truly had a chip and a chair and was all in on my SB. Which I won! This got me 300 chips and a circuit to pick my spot which I did with QJ os and I quadrupled up by hitting a straight. I then trebled or quadrupled again when shortly after I hit KK and they held up. I then started to accumulate chips and although I was never in a position to take scalps I had a chance of going deep and before I knew it we were down to 2 tables. I survived as a short stack but got caught making a steal with A7 (or similar) sooooted and was called by another short stack (JJ) and the BB short stack (KQos). I thought my tourney was over but a spiked A on the flop trebled me up (almost) and put me on the final table of 9 (one went out at the same time on the other table. I was being pointed out by a few as "he only had 1 chip earlier!" and was enjoying myself now, but things got tense when we were down to 6 and were told that 4 festival seats were on offer. I had 2 hands of note on the final table. One was against the guy who easily had the most scalps (11) and was very LAG. I pushed to a raise from him when I was holding 88 and I knew he would call. He did and flipped over Ace rag but the flop came 8 7 7 to give me a full house and he was drawing dead (practically). This gave me the chips I needed to survive. The 2nd hand was the last meaningful hand in the tourney. I was on the BB and I looked down to see 88 again. UTG put in a raise and SB pushed all in. I had them both covered and I would have considered a call, but I half heard UTG say something "......calling", but I didn;t hear correctly and so I had to find out what he said. If he had said "I'm NOT calling", I had a decision to make and I was told that he had made a verbal declaration that he was calling. I had to decide whether to call in order to guarantee knocking one of them out but was aware that I could have been in trouble if I lost the pot and got no chips out of it so I passed. I had to consider calling though as our team needed the scalps. UTG had QQ, SB had KK and all I remember of the flop was another 8 which would have won me the hand (and the scalps). But KK held up and we all qualified. :nana :cow :nana :cow

Re: Live Team Event Blackpool 13th Oct Wow what a great night. :cow Well played guys and gal :clap We are waiting to speak to the poker manager tonight to try to confirm PL's final place, as it is possible that the G casino cleaners threw away the paperwork from last nights event and AWOP cannot remember the finishing places of all 11 teams. :eyes When I went out of the final PL was sitting in 3rd with just Mr V left in the headhunters tourney to gain sclps and points. Other teams had players remaining on the FT plus others in the headhunters to gain more points. First of all a thousand apologises to MCFC for doing his head in on the phone soooooooo badly that he had to go for a lie - down (nothing to do with the beer on Friday night - i'm sure :moon) It was great to meet Kippe (Kev),Aimee ( who should be joining soon) and Gaz (MC's bro). The night's wooden spoon goes out to Aimee's biatch- Rosco for going out 1st in both tourneys. :$ There will be another of these events round about March as AWOP are certain to keep these team tourneys going. They will not always be on at Blackpool as there are people from up and down the country to consider. The last one was in Stoke. Re: Live Team Event Blackpool 13th Oct just got home:zzz:zzz:zzz. well it was a great weekend :nana:nanaand great to meet the legendary cockney mackem tax monkey:nana:nanawho we have now found out is not actually human but a cyborg that is alcohol fueled:eek brian also worked out the only way to tell he is pissed is that his stories get drawn out and boring if he is drunk:lol:lol a true legend :notworthy:notworthy. on friday night we decided a to go and check out the casino and meet brians brother who was playing the $10 rebuy. the casino was excellent with a huge poker room ,drink was good value and had a good but slightly prison like smoking area:clap:clap:clap . then we decided a little walk along the prom might be a good idea as we didn't fancy a $10 rebuy,which was lucky as we were told it was an all in fest:puke. however this might not have been the best idea as we didnt get to bed till 4.30 and at 12.30 we thought it might be a good idea to phone the team and make sure they were in bed ,then just phone anybody:rollin:rollin .we did have a drunken poker strategy conversation at 3 am in the caravan so at least we didnt waste the evening completely:) had some brekkie the next mornin then off to the casino again,unfortunately the crazy golf skins game got called off due to rain:sad the stt part of the tourney went ok for me but i ended bubbling after a real suck out when i called another players all in with k9 to hit 2 pair but they hit their j to hit a gutshot straight:pukethis table was a real table of death with 5 players knocked out before most others had lost a player. the headhunter part was less good ,i was card dead pretty much the whole time i was in and every table was going mental:loon.we ended up staying in the casino till about 3 and got to sleep about 4.30 again sp im knackered:zzz:zzz cheers for sorting the van out brian :okit was nice to meet diane. nice to meet gary kippe aimee and dp and see everybody else again:nana well played sam pl's top scorer:clap:clap:clap

Re: Live Team Event Blackpool 13th Oct Team Sick had 132pts UKPL 101 Trams 92 Misfits 86 Punters Lounge had 82 + Valiants Scalps I think he had 2 or 3?? LIP had 82.5 All these are off the top of my head after asking about points last night whilst making sure our team was deffo in second and couldn't be caught for 2nd place. Hope that helps, not a clue about anyone elses TBH just that you must have come 5th.
