Re: Royal Ascot ~ 21/06/07 At last, some horses i've been waiting for. :) Silkwood 3.05 Ascot Highly regarded by connections and won it's debut at odds on at Wolverhampton. Finished 2nd next time out behind a decent Mark Johnston horse and looks like it needs a step up in trip. Moved up to class 3 to win readily for its first try on turf over 1m2f on good ground. This extra 2f should suit and I fancied it for the Oaks but it swerved that race and could well take this one instead. Obviously has the O'Brien horse to beat, which has strong form with the impressive Light Shift but has been unable to match that on 2 occasions. Colorado Rapid 4.20 Ascot Has only won up to class 4 level but well thought of and trainer usually does well at this meeting. Has saved his best horses and this looks like one of them. Only won a class 4 race last time out but was covered up and quickened impressively when the gap came to score in style over this trip on good ground and had something left in the tank at the end of the race. Likely to improve again, well fancied and already seen money for it. Man Of Vision 5.30 Ascot Looked like it would never get off the mark with a 3rd and two 2nds in maidens but finally beat the impressive Serengeti, which has won twice since. That was on the all weather over 10f but then ran on turf over 1m4f in a class 3 race on good to firm and ran on, galloping all the way to the line. Still looks progressive now the penny has finally dropped and 14-1 is a big price, definitely worth a good ew bet for an improving horse.
