Cockney Rebel

Recommended Posts

Im sure most of you have heard that after an offer of £10 million for this horse, it has been revealed that its part in the St James's Palace Stakes came at a high cost when a scan showd a fracture in his off-side pelvis. A quote taken from http://www.rte.ie/sport/racing/2007/0620/cockneyrebel.html:

Geoff Huffer's dual Guineas hero suffered the injury when finishing fifth in the St James's Palace Stakes, where he hung badly left in the closing stages. Although the initial prognosis on Tuesday morning was a pulled muscle in Cockney Rebel's hind-quarters, a subsequent scan revealed the injury to be worse than expected.
As I am no horse medic, how bad is this injury, will the animal race again? A few month out? Minor injury? And should the horse have been allowed to run with a suspected just pulled muscle?
