Vasco won away at America by 1-0 while Sport Recife at home won by 4-1 on Santos Sao Paulo. Vasco have been o n ups and downs recently and were winless in five games before the serie A one. They were defeated thrice and drew twice. They finished 4-4 their last Carioca game. They are visiting Nautico who lost their first game by 2-1 at Athletico Mineiro. Sao Paulo are very good and have done well both on the local front and in the Copa Libertadores, while Nautico are currently on two defeats as they were defeated also in the preceding Cup game by 1-0 at Figuerense after having drawn in the first leg 2-2 at home. Sao Paulo are high scorers when they want. They should be better here and I expect them to win by a more than one goal margin. I choose the away win with the (-1 EH) at 4.0 @ Stan James – 10 points

Sao Paulo vs Palmeiras Sao Paulo stated very dsiappointed, reached after 2 games played (1-0-1), really so poor for enormous chances of their roster available. Palmeiras, comfronted to the hosts, has surely less quality in the first XI and the repalcements are not so good how Sao Paulo, but the guests had a good start and their morale state is quiet (2-0-0). Probable line-up to start: Sao Paulo (4-4-2): Rogério Ceni; Alex Silva, Miranda, André Dias; Ilsinho, Josué, Hernanes, Hugo, Jorge Wagner; Dagoberto, Borges. Palmeiras (4-4-2): Cavalieri; Paulo Sérgio, David, Dininho, Leandro; Pierre, Martinez, Michael, Valdívia; Edmundo e Florentín. Sao Paulo needs to win to overturn the actaul trend: they will start with full support of their hot crowd and Morumbi Stadium will be IMO a factor. Prudent approach waiting for Sao Paulo to play decently as they should do.
