Was I right to bet to raise as much ? I just feel that i could have took him for more than I did .....and would welcome thoughts on slow playing vs aggressive play - when having the nuts after the flop, but open to being overtaken by the turn/river

Re: Extracting the Maximum Good question re. getting a good pay out from hands because i've thought many a time 'i'm sure with different play i could have got more!'. On this hand i would have done much the same as you (better players will let me know whether that would be the right thing or not) For two reasons: A) you get information on whether he has part of the hand, and B) It could scare him off trying to hit the flush So i would have raised about the same amount. It would have been tough to call for me because there are a number of cards you will be letting him see for cheap which could beat you.
