AlunB
Re: BWin to take over Sporting Odds Bwin press release The Board of bwin Interactive Entertainment AG has noted the recent press speculation and confirms that it is in very preliminary discussions with Sportingbet plc for the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Sportingbet plc which may or may not lead to an offer. I was going to make a point about this not necessarily meaning anything will happen but the FT made it much better so... The offer is one of several that have been launched in the listed online gambling sector since its mass exodus from the lucrative US market last autumn. However, closing deals has proved elusive. Bwin was itself the subject of inquiries from PartyGaming late last year while Ladbrokes’ hopes of buying the assets of 888 Holdings rest on the UK bookmaker’s risk assessment of any US liabilities in 888.
