Sheerluck Holmes
Re: ***Bangor Abandoned Friday*** RACING faces a flurry of inspections to avoid a blank day after Thursday’s blanket of snow put paid to Friday’s Bangor meeting and leaves both Kempton and Wolverhampton snowbound and in the balance. Kempton would already have gone the way of Bangor without putting down the frost covers on Wednesday. There is still a 7.30am inspection with a light frost forecast on Thursday night but no frost in the ground under the covers at present. Clerk of the course Brian Clifford said: “It is perfectly raceable under the covers. We had two inches of snow on the covers yesterday morning and it started to thaw in the afternoon. We are forecast minus one overnight. “We will start taking the covers off from 6.15am and think we will be fine unless we get minus five.” Wolverhampton inspect at 6.30am as the two and a half inches of snow that fell on Thursday have been left on the track. Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron explained: "It is better to leave the snow on the track rather than work it through as when we worked it through before, it (the snow) disappearedunder the surface but began to ball in the horses' hooves. The track remains above freezing with minus two forecast to turn to plus four by racetime. :hope :hope :hope :hope
