3.20.....His Masters Voice (RPF 14/1) It's pretty difficult to win here over 7f from a wide draw so will have to oppose leading fancies Special Place, Imperium and Loyal Tycoon. Small Stakes should run a big race as it seems better going left handed, like today, but its current mark combined with the move up from sprint distances doesn't give me confidence. Danetime Lord should go close with conditions in its favour today, and Mistral Sky is another with a chance if coping with the extra furlong. Romany Nights has been dropped in the weights and would win on the pick of its turf form but is 0 from 12 on the AW and that remains a major doubt. Speculative selection is His Masters Voice. CD winner, who seems better at this trip. Won off 2lb higher mark last summer so a repeat of that form would be enough. Steadily dropping in weights despite racing at wrong trip so far this term, so definitely got an EW chance in a poorer event than it has been contesting. 3.50.....Flint River (RPF 8/1) Again, not a race to get overly enthusiastic about. Another 7f 14 runner race so discount the high drawn horses - that gets rid of lto winners Beneking and Wahoo Sam, as well as Moon Bird and The London Gang. State Dilemna is the likely fav but seems best at 6f, whilst Goose Chase seems suited to a stiffer stamina test. Our Kes continues to tumble in the weights, and a drop in trip here should see this horse go close today - maybe a saver on this is the call. The selection however is Flint River. Stable in terrific form, having a 14L winner today in a competitive (well, it looked it on paper!) handicap at Southwell. Dropped 3lb in the weights, this horse has won off 78, yet races here off a lowly mark of 57. 7f is its trip and, if it can recapture a bit of form, is a decent EW bet.
