I'm struggling to get to terms with the business of weights and penalties! Could someone tell me how weight affects races and why they get penalties, and how I can tell they have one?

Penalties The referee usually blows his whistle and points to the spot.:lol I wondered why no-one had responded to this question but then I couldnt make my mind up if it was a piss-take or not.:unsure Are you seriously asking why carrying more weight should make it more difficult for a horse to win Martin?
