Robbie1960
Re: sporting odds laptop prob its safe enough...heres a brief explanation from microsoft site..... The System Restore feature of Microsoft Windows XP enables administrators to restore their computers to a previous state without losing personal data files (e.g. Word documents, graphic files, e-mail). System Restore actively monitors system file changes and some application file changes to record or store previous versions before the changes occurred. Users never have to think about taking system snapshots as System Restore automatically creates easily identifiable restore points, which the users can use to revert to a previous time. Restore points are created at the time of significant system events (such as application or driver install) and periodically (each day). Additionally, users can create and name their own restore points at any time. For more information, please see the System Restore|. it works on windows xp ( home and professional ) & windows me. i had a similar prob a while back...and it worked for me. click start....go to all programmes.....then accessories......system tools....in there you'll find system restore. I think it only works if there was a previously created restore point.( i have windows xp home )

I trust you will avoid them from now on and treat this whole sorry episode as a lesson learnt. :ok :spank :cheers PS Sorry pal not a clue :unsure

Red_Fear
Re: sporting odds laptop prob I'm afraid I can't help you with your problem, but I also get frozen out of SportingOdds, Poker.co.uk and Virgin on my laptop too.:sad I just don't bother using the laptop for these sites anymore and stick to the problem free (sic) PC. I blame Windows XP myself.:unsure (PC runs Windows ME) Red.
ronay
Re: sporting odds laptop prob Would try some kind of Registry clean up tool. There are a few freebies to be found. Use Registry Mechanic myself - can use free version (only fixes certain problems) or for $30 or so full version, not a bad investment tbh. Might be worth looking a the way the laptop HD has been set up too. Got a new one few months ago, within couple of weeks was having loads of problems. Turns out alot of manufacturers format the HD using the old FAT32 system which on XP & larger drives can be a little bit unstable. (Under Explorer look at the Drive Properties) Used partition magic software on mine to convert to NTFS, been running sweet ever since. :ok
