Can ORIENTOR make it third time lucky in this race, after placing in the last 2 renewals? His form at Doncaster reads 032332... 0 - very stiff task on final 2yo start on bad ground 3 - beaten by the draw (18-20-3) 2 - beaten by the very slow pace and lack of cover 3 - beaten by the draw (11-12-2) 3 - beaten by the draw (6-7-2) and lack of pace 2 - beaten by the draw (3-12-4) The last two were in this race in 2003 and 2002. He'll probably get a fast pace today and is drawn 17 of 17, so he should get all the cover he needs. The obvious worry is that he is at risk of being stuck in a pocket on the rails, but he has a clever jockey in J P Murtagh and hopefully he'll secure a good position early on. We know he has the class for this, he acts on the track and at this time of year, and his trainer knows how to have them fit first time out. A clear run and he'll give you a great run for your money at around 7/1. Seen
