Help Choosing Friday Focus Game

I'm at a bit of a loss for Fridays focus game - any ideas? We will have a 4 week spell coming up where a lot of the focus games will be $5 to $20 buy in No Limit Hold'em games (linked with an event we're hoping to run ;) ) - so I'm keen to use the "gap" to try a variant or stick with a freeroll ........ but I cannot find much..... The 32Red Friday Freeroll now needs raked hands..... Best I can find is maybe a Stud Freeroll (Fixed limit) on Pokerstars at 23:02 BST ...... There are no prizes though - just 24 entries to another $1000 freeroll...... (which also means noone can finish higher than 24th....) Can anyone see anything better anywhere?

Re: Help Choosing Friday Focus Game

$3+0.15 Speed Rebuy Omaha at 7.40pm on Paddy Power? :lol
Great ...... if it were on another network :sad Trying to stick to they core sites only for buy ins (cos the feedback was too many sites) - so that's just Boss (Virgin, SO, Poker.co.uk), iPoker (Betfred), Prima (Betholdem) or Pokerstars...... unless it's a freeroll.......

Re: Help Choosing Friday Focus Game

Theres a $5+50 - 7 Card Stud on Spin Palace at 2000 is that too much for a variant game ?? - i presume its on other Prima as well ?? Too early for me as i'll be at work - but ..... anyway its a suggestion !!
Yes, seems to be on other Prima sites, too. That's an idea. Not that I have the foggiest idea how to play 7 card stud. No added value, but maybe the novelty value makes up for that? It's fixed limit, by the way. Which means it would at least take me a few rounds to lose all my chips.

The couple of times I've tried stud I've done rather better than I though I would - probably beginners luck though.

Re: Help Choosing Friday Focus Game ipoker have a $2000 guaranteed freezeout for $5+50 starting at 8pm. This normally attracts over 400 runners. Pokerstars have a $5 HORSE and a $5 HOSE MTT showing. The HORSE event starts at 18:25 The HOSE event starts at 19:25 Probably too early for us. There is a $3+30 NLHE on Stars at 21:02.

Re: Help Choosing Friday Focus Game I know I'll get shot down in flames from GaF again for suggesting the Lucky Dollar ($1 + 0.10) on Pokerroom! :moon :lol 9pm Start with $1000 added - played in it a couple of times recently and less than 1200 entrants so there is added value. Top 130 get paid as well. :ok Anyway, I'll be playing there tonight! (if sober) Good luck to all as usual! :hope TQM

Re: Help Choosing Friday Focus Game Ok - decided to go for the 19:25 HOSE game on Pokerstars ($5 + 50c) :ok Did consider all of the other options listed here - but for the moment I'm trying to stick pretty strictly to the "core sites" for the buy ins (Yes that includes the Mansion 1c buy in - not an issue with the amount, but it means people have to deposit there - which is what I think people want to avoid.....) May look to expand the list of "core rooms" slightly at some point in the near future if I continue having problems finding games :ok Will set up a new thread with a poll for tonights core game :ok

Sounds good to me! I think I'll have to go and do a little reading on the basics of "E". At least the "O" and the "S" I've played before, even if I had no idea what I was doing.

Re: Help Choosing Friday Focus Game

I think it's 7-card stud hi/lo?
Yup :lol :lol - Step 1 will be to know what the variants are called - step 2 will be for me to learn roughly what the rules are :loon
H.O.S.E (aka S.H.O.E) is a term used for playing a mixed game of >poker consisting of four different poker games. H stands for Hold'em, O for Omaha Eight or Better, S for 7 Card Stud and E for 7 Card Stud Eight or Better. This form of poker is most common at higher limit >casino tables and is popular since it requires players to be skilled at many different forms of poker to succeed. H.O.R.S.E. is a similar variant that has Razz thrown into the mix. Razz is 7 Card Stud played for low. Until recently, tournaments in H.O.S.E (last held in 2003) and H.O.R.S.E (last held in 2004) was featured at the World Series of Poker but in 2005 no such tournament was hosted, disappointing many players. The H.O.R.S.E tournament was reinstated at the 2006 World Series of Poker event with a record $50,000 buy-in to participate.

Re: Friday Focus Game

There's a daily $1+.10 NL game same time as safety net which gets a couple of hundred fewer runners and isn't quite as much of an all-in Hun fest.
Wish you had picked this one. :( Just limped out in 16th from 407 for a mighty $3.66. Wish I'd got some points too. :lol
