Is This A Scam?

Hello JoeA while back you came to pokerpayday.com to take the poker test and possibly get a sponsorship offer. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough info on the test to give us a real sense of how sharp your poker skills are. We don’t want to let any solid players slip through the cracks, though, so we have a $5 tournament coming up on Sunday 7/23 at 8:00 EST that will give you a chance to show us your skills. And if you finish in the money (top 15-20%, roughly), we’ll sponsor you. Here are the details. If you place in the tournament, we will offer you a contract valued around $5000. This means that we will buy you into more than 50 tournaments over the next year. You will have an opportunity to win tons of money in tournaments that you will play for no cost and you will be able to develop a relationship with our company by showing how good of a player you are. We will be staking our top players into large tournaments like the WSOP Main Event. Under the contract, you will only be required to forfeit 10-20% of your winnings from tournaments we sponsor you into with large buyins($200+).To play in the tournament, please login to pokerpayday.com using the username you chose in your application(shown below). Then, just follow the instructions on the front page of the members. Your Username: Burnley JoeIf you have any questions, feel free to email me back or call me at Poker Payday. My name is Alex and the number here is 1888poker50. Good Luck!-Alex Stiner [email protected]

Re: Is This A Scam? opinion varies tbh. you have to pay up front yourself for the tournements, and they reimburse you, and take 20% of your winnings. Would they still pay you if you lost ? In theory they should still reimburse entry fees, but I wouldn't like to go chasing it.

Re: Is This A Scam? The first question is did you actually take the test they claimed you took? The second question is how long do you think they will keep reimbursing you if you are not a consistent winner for them. The third question is if you are a consistent winner why would you give up 20% of you winning which if you get a final table could well be worth more than the buy ins they refund. Coupled with the fact they dont pay you up front... Id steer clear.

Re: Is This A Scam? Con. Sponsorship should be paid in advance in order to allow you to compete in buy-in tournies you couldn't normally afford yourself. If Goalpoker offered you a sponsorship deal because you did very well in Vegas (:hope for you) then that would be understandable.

Re: Is This A Scam? Checked on other forums, you also have to pay $99 to sign up - of course this is refunded if certain conditions are met (?!?!?) This is not 'proper' sponsorship, lets face it who is going to sponsor someone who does well in a one off $5 tourney - would you??
