Houston Astros @ Cincinnati Reds Reds 2.04 (Pinnacle) 2.5 units Reds -1.5 3.04 (Pinnacle) 2.5 units HOU: LHP Andy Pettitte (1-3, 4.35 ERA) CIN: RHP Aaron Harang (3-1, 4.55 ERA) Reds are one of the best hitting teams in the league at the moment and are leading the NL Central with a 16-7 mark. They have won 5 straight and are 9-2 in last 11. Reds are a team with really good batting lineup, among the top 3 of National League and their traditionally poor pitching staff has been berforming much better this season due to few additions like Carlos Arroyo. Houston Has also been very impressive, but has playd 3/4 of their games at home and is 3-3 on road. The thing is, Houstons batting is average at best and they are a team relying on their strong pitching rotation and bullpen. You could say both of these teams have been overperforming a little. Reds will start their long time ace and the best pitcher in the rotation today, Aaron Harang. He was very impressive in his last start, tossing a complete-game five-hit shutout against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Sunday. He seems to be in good form at the moment. Astros starter Pettitte is an excellent pitcher, but did struggle a bit in his first few starts, but seems to be regaining his normal level now. Still, i really think Reds will be able to put many runs on the board today. Reds have just been killing left handed pitchers this season. They have .403 OBP (On Base Percentage) and have hit the most homeruns and have the most rbi's in the majors against southpaws than any other team with a clear margin. Reds won the yesterdays game with much less favorable pitching matchup, so no reason why they couldn't do it again. Trowing medium stake on this one divided between ML and Alternate RL. Milwaukee Brewers @ Chicago Cubs Brewers 2.04 (Mansion) 5 units MIL: LHP Doug Davis (0-2, 7.66 ERA) CHC: LHP Glendon Rusch (1-3, 6.41 ERA) Here's a game Brewers should win to avoid possible sweep, as tomorrow they will face Carlos Zambrano who is a very tough opponent. Todays starter Doug Davis is an excellent pitcher. He has struggled early this season, but is really too good not to regain his level. Last season he had a era of 3.84 and year before that 3.39, showing really solid performances. In his career against Cubbies Davis is 4-4 with a ERA of 2.88. Chicago starter Glendon Rusch is a reliever converted to starter who has never been more than below average as a starter. He has also struggled immensily against left handed batters this season. Brewers lineup will feature at least 4 lefty batters tonight. Some stats, Brewers vs Left Handed starters this year: BA .319 , 11 HR. While Cubs haven't fared well against southpaws: BA .197 , 4HR against left handed starters. Also Brewers have hit better in last 7 games: (Cubs BA. 220) (Brewers BA. 271). Losing 1st baseman Derek Lee to wrist injury seems to have been quite a big blow for Cubs batting. Imo Brewers should be favored in this game and only reason for these odds is Davis' bad start for the season. I'm expecting him to throw a solid game today against a team that doesn't hit leftys very well.
