SA -5.5 Utah are just plain poor imo.Somehow they managed to trick people (and books alike) that they were a good team when they went on an 8-1 run over the new year, but as I've mentioned before, it was against a lot of bad and under-manned teams at the time. Since then they are 2-6, with wins over a terrible Toronto and NJ, in a game where Carter went out with an injury after scoring 5 points on 2-14 shooting in 29 minutes! They have lost at home to Seattle and Cleveland in this stretch, and you'd have to say they were relatively poor teams, esp. on the road...The Jazz allowed 100+ points and over 50% shooting in both games. ** Since the new year, SA are 10-3 with losses @ Phoenix, v. Det and v. Denver (with Ginobili out)...3 quality teams, and have won their last 3 away games by 10, 7 & 16 against teams who are all better than Utah. Home court can only help you so much. ** SA are 5-1 ats on the road when scoring 100+. Seattle -6.5 I just don't see how Portland can keep up in this game. Portland are 0-7 ats when they allow 100+ on the road, simply because they can't score enough themselves. They av. just 84.4 pg on the road, are 4-15 and lose by an av. of 11.8. Seattle have lost just one game at home all year when they allow <100. I know Seattle's defense is suspect at best!!...But Portland have played 4 of the worst defensive teams on the road so far; lost 85-130 @ Phoenix lost 83-107 @ Philli won 77-75 @ Atlanta lost 92-103 @ NYK....for an av. of 84.25 ppg. Seattle average 104.0 ppg at home and 117.6 in their last 5!!...(112.5 even without the OT) Apparently in basketball, the team who scores the most points win. :ok Boston @ Minni over 183.5 This might come as a bit of a surprise after cashing an easy Boston under today, but this total is too much of an over-reaction. Surprise number 2...18 of Boston's 21 road game this season have been over this number!!...The 3 that weren't were at Houston and Detroit (and today) Earlier this month, Boston won 103-96 at home...there were just 6 fast break points, 50 FT's and combined 46.9% shooting, so nothing out of the ordinary there! Davis scored just 10 pints on 4-11 shooting, Blount scored just 2 points in 6 minutes!! Boston games av. 7.4 more points on the road...Min games av. 0.9 less, but that's still +6.5 points on the last game. Boston games av. 203.7 ppg with no rest...allowing 104.0 ppg! I think Minni will play a more up-tempo game now with Davis, and he's fitted in beautifully, with 46 points @ 50% shooting in 2 games...against 2 of the best defenses in the NBA. (@ SA and Houston!!) Blount is also relishing not being the centre of attention, shooting 11-15 in the 2 games.
