Vilamoura04
Hello Can anyone offer any advice as to what is the best way of doing this? I have the data from joes site but the only way I can see to test a system historically is to do it manually week by week which looks a gert big gimp load of work :( There MUST be another way? Some way of automating this? Grateful for any help
PAULM03
Re: Backtesting ratings system The amount of work depends what you want to do and how good you are with excel (although there's always plenty of good excel help around here:)). I must say that the amount of work it takes to backtest puts me off a lot of potential systems. What is it you want to do exactly?
Vilamoura04
Re: Backtesting ratings system I just want to backtest a couple of simple match ratings systems based on 1X2 recent form and scores in different leagues to see how they would have performed for previous matches. Very basic match ratings systems that have probably been done a hundred times before by people on here but I want to do it myself in order to progress to more complicated stuff. Im ok with excel I can do vlookups and pivot tables and that but thats about my limit.
