Re: Vegas 2006 So if 'someone' were interested in this trip, but had never actually been overseas (or even own a passport :$), what are the steps necessary to arrange it (along with getting a passport that is :tongue2)? Is that room price (~£100/week) for a single, or a double sharing? I'm definately interested - and it just so happens that my birthday is on Tuesday 21st November. There can't be too many better ways of spending your b'day than livin' it large in Vegas with a bunch of nutters! :loon

Re: Vegas 2006 Steve m8, im the one you need at the mo lol 1. Right 1st of all, get a passport asap, you wont require a visa, which after oct 2006, all new passports issued after this date will require a visa before entry into the USA. So get a new passport now! 2. Whats your email address, ill send you a link to join virgin flying club, thats who were all flying with, and if you book your flight between now and end of jan, you will get it for only 348 i beleive. thats direct flights from gatwick. 3. By joining the flying club with my link, you will get your air miles, and ill get some too for refering you, im trying to get as many as possible to get my free flight to australia for the ashes in jan 07. 4. the room cost is 200 pounds for the week, if your on youir own/prefer a room to yourself thats the cost, however, most rooms in vegas have 2 double beds in, so you could share and half the cost. I prefer a room on my own so i can have the 4 S's in peace! 5. Book up asap and get the great savings on the airfair, and see F-Tipper regarding the rooms, he is in dialogue with a casino host so we may get discounts on the rooms! 6. email me on [email protected] if you need any help or wanna ask a question, 7. Im going, so you will know 1 person anyway! my bday is 16th nov!

I'd say wait a short while before getting the passport - I believe that biometric passports are being launched soon, and these will have a longer life span, and make going to the states (for example) easier, I imagine (assuming you have nothing to hide) You shouldn't need a Visa or anything - under the "Visa Waive Scheme" you can fill in a card on arrival that gives you the right to stay for 28 days (I think) - so just a passport, plane ticket and hotel reservation.

Oops - nothing like having people disagree on advice!!!!! Morl is probably right - but double check when biometric is launching..... (or is that October? I'd have thought a Biometric did NOT require a Visa, but older non biometric would :unsure)

Re: Vegas 2006 yeah Gaf, the biometric passports are on hold, so after october 2006, anyone without a machine readable passport(the ones you get now) will require a visa to enter the USA, meaning you have to contact the us embassy in london, and pay around £40 ($65) for one. Get a passport before oct 2006 and use the visa waiver scheme for the next 10 years, ( means fill a form in on the plane and its free to enter)

Re: Vegas 2006 If they pull down the Imperial, you could try staying downtown. We stay at the Plaza really cheap and good odds on the tables. Good poker room with good comps, so if you play about 4hrs a day you can get freebies.... and none of them families with kids.... what they doing there.... circus circus and exaliber for kids..... everywhere else is for us grown ups..... Going April (lost count of number times now, just love it there)..... have fun November, i'll be there October too....

I think that's right. To avoid having to get a visa: Your passport must be machine readable, which they all are now. If your passport was issued after October 2005, it must contain a digital photo. UK passports being issued now do. If your passport is issued after October 2006, it will have to be fully "biometric". I think UK biometric passports are being phased in this year, presumably with the intention that by October all new passports will be. So I think the only potential problem is for people getting a new passport after October this year, if there's any delay in introducing the biometric ones.

It will be getting a few licks of paint and stuff but will not get pulled down just yet lol Imagine the trouble of knocking it down unlike most casinos IP is near the road.
