reduction factor at Betfair

Recommended Posts

How exactly does the reduction factor on Betfair work ? When you click on the name of a horse in a Betfair market you get the window with the graph and what been matched. In that window you can see a reduction factor for each horse. Is that the % that will be applied should that horse become a non-runner ? When a horse does become a non-runner, is that % applied to all other horses. So the price on all other horses goes down by that % ? Including any bets already matched ?

Re: reduction factor at Betfair In a nutshell DP yes to all your questions. Here's the explanation from Betfair themselves :-

Reduction Factor In Horseracing, a horse being withdrawn from a race it is declared to run in is a regular occurrence. Each horse therefore is assigned a reduction factor (between 0-100%), according to how likely it is to win the race. If the horse is a non-runner, this reduction factor will be applied to the odds of all the other selections in the race to reduce their odds relative to their increased chance of winning. This is done to protect both backers and layers รขโ‚ฌโ€œ backers of a non-runner will receive their stake back, and layers will not be forced into offering odds.
