The French have won five and the Canadians one. That rare win for Canada came more than a decade ago, on 4 June 1994, when the Canadians triumphed 18-16 in the Canadian city of Nepean. France have won the last four games that the two countries have contested. The largest victory for France was a 34-point margin, achieved when they beat Canada 47-13 in the York Stadium, Toronto, in July last year. Those 47 points were also the most scored by France in a game. While the 1994 result was Canada's sole win, they have on one occasion scored more points against France, when they went down 33-20 in a World Cup pool match at Stade Mediterranee, Beziers, in 1999. In their six encounters France have scored 178 points and Canada 76, giving France an average match-winning margin of about 30-13. France have scored 19 tries and Canada just four.
