Re: 888.com UK Open

Its when you act as if you are going to call by moving enough chips to call into the middle and then raising. You could use a string bet to test your opponents reaction and give you an idea as to the strength of their hand.
As I remember it (and I haven't had the chance to see any replays or anything.....) - I selected the chips I wanted to raise with - played with them in my hands for a few seconds, then holding them all as a stack in one hand moved my hand to the middle of the table, and let them fall out of my hand, one at a time (but less than a second for all the chips to fall - it was a quick "trickle") - I was looking directly forward at the chips all the time and at no time looked across at my opponents ...... there was no advantage at all to be obtained from what I did (though I can't argue it was against the rules - AND they did explain that to us beforehand!!!)

Re: 888.com UK Open I don't think it matters how many chips you move into the middle - you have to announce a raise beforehand. If you don't announce a raise and start moving chips into the middle then I think they automatically take it as a call no matter how many chips you move over the line. Suppose they have to have the rule to avoid any disputes. Its unfortunate GAF because as you said you weren't attempting to gain an advantage from it :(

Re: 888.com UK Open You dont have to anounce raise if you are placing several chips into the middle. You only have to announce raise if you are only placing 1 chip into the middle. EG if you are placing a 1K chip in and that included a call of 200 and a raise of 800 you need to anounce your raise.

We did not have to verbally announce any bet - movement of the chips only is acceptable ...... However, if I had verbally announced "raise", then a raise would have been binding on me, and even with the string bet I would have had to put a minimum raise in, which would probably have won it for me there and then....... and saved me..... Thanks for all your kind words everyone. Anyway - great experience, but water under the bridge now - it's history (and noone need watch it on TV, cos you know what happens .....) Now it's over to Brael for the big one :drums :drums :drums :drums Then who wants to be next?

Re: 888.com UK Open As I said, I don't trust them dealers. A second 2 to appear on the turn?! That's some deck they dish out. I wouldn't beat yourself up too much about it so don't kid yourself by dwelling too much on the negatives (personally, I would be more than a little miserable about the experience). You know you're better than that and if you get another shot, you can kinda know what to expect. A helluva an acheivement in winning the freeroll to get there in the first place.

Feck... my bottle has just collapsed again after all this technical stuff about how you put your chips into the pot! I'll be totally bricking it and, when that happens, my hands shake like blazes. The dealer will be wondering what the hell is going on!! :$ I've been practicing $1, 9 seater STT's at Bet Square too and finding them mega difficult to keep up with. I've gone out on the bubble only once... the other times it's either been 5th or 7th. I ain't holding out much hope of coming home with anything!! :unsure If it's entertainment you're looking for on a Saturday night, stay home and watch 'Casualty'! :lol

Re: 888.com UK Open

Gaf' date=' what date is your heat on tv and is it on the Challenge channel?[/quote'] Hey .... shhhh ..... I want to get through this with as few people as possible seeing it ....... I was in Heat 18, the last one - judging by where they are at the moment, I'm guessing it should be broadcast on Saturday 12th November - yes on Challenge (Sky 121) The guy who finished 3rd (Doug ****) - an American, internet qualifier was a really friendly guy - when I was out, I was rooting for him. Don't know the Pro's that were on my table, but one of them is famous for something he says at some point in every tourney he plays ...... and I can't remember what it is, but something like "Hello, My name's Mike ***** and you don't steal my blinds" - any ideas?

Re: 888.com UK Open Hehe ...... I don't think it will be tonight (unless they've shown 2 in a night before!!!). Assuming they broadcast 5 times a week, then I think it will be Wednesday (ish). If anyone does see the start tonight, let us know which heat it was please (I'm heat 18!!)

Re: 888.com UK Open brael, im presuming it`s the "burn card". It`s basically to prevent visual cheating ie, not knowing the next card that`s due to be dealt, if the top card of the pile was marked, a player could possibly know that. so therefore the top card in the pack gets mucked and the next one down gets dealt onto the board.

Re: 888.com UK Open Don't think you should worry too much. The one live game I played in a local casino I mentioned it was my first time and the dealer always helped by announcing the number of chips required to at least call. I expect most if not all the other players at your table will be live game novices so the dealer is bound to be there to help. Just keep an eye on that dealer button to remember to put in the blinds !
