Seeking support for "out of control" gambling problems is a sign of strength, not weakness. It's an important step in regaining control over gambling habits. Here are some resources and avenues for help :

National Helplines

  • U.S - National Problem Gambling Helpline (1-800-522-4700)
  • UK - GamCare offers a free helpline (0808 80 20 133)
  • If you need help right now and are not able to reach GamCare then you can contact Samaritans free on 116 123
  • If you're under 35, another option is HOPELINEUK, on 0800 068 4141.

Local Support Groups

  • Gamblers Anonymous (GA) is a 12-step program similar to Alcoholics Anonymous, providing a supportive community for those affected by gambling.
  • SMART Recovery offers meetings focused on self-management and recovery from addictive behaviours

Online Services

  • National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) provide information, resources, and tools for managing gambling issues.
  • GamCare offers a variety of resources, including forums and live chat support.
  • Punters Lounge is always here for our members. Whilst we are not professionals in the field, we can guide you in the right direction or be a listening ear for your concerns and worries.

Reach Out to Trusted Friends or Family

  • Sharing your concerns with someone you trust can provide emotional support and accountability.

Self-exclusion programs

  • Many gambling establishments and online platforms offer self-exclusion programs, allowing individuals to ban themselves from gambling sites or venues. These sites also offer time limits on the site and maximum stakes.
  • Some apps are designed to help individuals track their gambling habits and stay accountable. Look for those focused on Responsible Gambling

Taking the step to seek support is crucial for managing gambling concerns. Many resources are available to help you or your loved ones find the assistance they need.
