Forum Guidelines

At Punters Lounge we pride ourselves on offering an inclusive, diverse, and friendly community spirit on our forum. It is an approach that has contributed to thousands of members visiting and staying to chat and laugh about their latest trials and tribulations in the world of betting.

Creating such an environment doesn’t just happen though. We encourage free speech and a platform for people to speak their thoughts but it also comes with a requirement to do it with both a sense of respect and responsibility.

To help ease you into the Punters Lounge way of life, here is a list of guidelines to gently settle you into our forum.

  1. Post in the English language

It might seem like a self-explanatory request given we’re a mainly UK-facing forum. We do ask that all members post in the English language to ensure topics remain free-flowing and easy for the majority to understand.

  1. Be respectful

One of the key things that keep an online forum community happy is respect. It’s the respect members have for each other and their respect for the topics being discussed. This might seem like common sense for most decent people but we ask that all members respect each other across the forum. This includes no harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind. Essentially, we simply ask that you don’t be an idiot!

  1. Be active

If an online community needs one thing to thrive then it’s member activity. This is where you come in and why you’re the most important part of the forum. Everybody has the right to pop in and browse the forum. We want to encourage you all to go to that next step and post your thoughts on the site. It doesn’t matter if it’s a reply in a thread, asking a question, giving an answer to somebody else’s question, providing your own tips and predictions, or just telling other members you like their bets. It’s all contributing to growing the community we have and that’s what we want.

  1. Keep content clean

OK, we’ll keep it blunt. No offensive material is allowed on this forum. This may be an 18+ forum but that doesn’t give the green light for explicit videos being shared. Swearing is tolerated provided it’s not aimed at another member of the forum but we politely ask you to avoid it where possible.

  1. Report unacceptable behaviour

To keep a handle on any unacceptable behaviour across the forum, we have a team of hard-working and committed staff members. However, there may well be times when certain things fly under the radar. If you spot something that you consider to be unacceptable behaviour then report the post and it will flag that content for our moderating team to manage.

  1. Keep on-topic

The key to a successful forum is keeping topics on-topic. The forum is split up into different sections to cater for members of all needs. Those sections then have specific topics that cover certain discussions. First and foremost, if you want to post about football then don’t post about it in the horseracing area. Secondly, if there is a topic where the discussion is about NAP of the Day then don’t hijack it with a post about your dodgy experience at Epsom racecourse last summer!

  1. Don’t spam

OK, so this is probably preaching to the converted. If you’re reading these rules then you’ll likely not want to participate in spamming. The main culprits are those who are either bots or individuals not bothered with contributing anything positive to the forum. Repeatedly posting replies with very few words that don’t add anything to the discussion is strongly discouraged.

  1. Don’t advertise

Punters Lounge is not a free ads site. It is a place for people to come together and talk about betting. Our expert team is thorough when it comes to which bookmakers, casinos, bingo, and poker sites we promote on the forum. We want to make sure our members are given the best free bet offers and betting sites to consider. We do not accept members using the site to plug their own businesses or forums. Exceptions may be made only if it is in agreement with an admin staff member beforehand.

  1. Don’t troll

The internet is full of them but the war on trolls is one we shall never surrender. If you’ve come here to just pester members and disrupt discussions then you won’t last long. Save everyone time and hassle by just not doing it.

  1. Enjoy!

Undoubtedly, the most important rule of engagement at Punters Lounge. Just enjoy it. Have fun talking about your betting, meeting like-minded people, learning from those with more experience, and helping those with less experience. We hope you find a new home here and we look forward to welcoming you as part of our inclusive online betting community.

If you have any questions about the 10 Rules of Engagement then don’t hesitate to contact a forum admin member.
