Racing Chat - Saturday Nov 26th (Inc Scoop6 etc...)

Tote Scoop6

We had 7 lucky winners of the Scoop6 last week each winning £98,132 and all of them have a chance to win the Bonus if thye select the winner of the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury. The Pot stands at £314,482 so theoretically another £44,800 if they pool their resources and select 7 different runners.

We have 5 races from Newbury plus one from Newcastle this week and without doubt all eyes will be on Leg 4 which is the Hennessy.

Selections

Leg 1: Generous Ransom

A 17 runner handicap chase to kick us off and a pretty good renewal by the looks of it. Both Gentleman Jon and Antony are chasing hat-tricks and run off marks of 136 which is a fair bit higher than previous winners. With that in mind something lower down the weights might be the way forward and i like Generous Ransom now he's with Philip Hobbs. He's had a run and should be spot on now.

Leg 2: Born Survivor

Next up is a Class 2 handicap hurdle and a race which features a few horses on the comeback trail, the most interesting of these would be Beast Of Burden who hasn't take to fences. Overall my preference is for the Skelton runner Born Survivor who was beaten last time out and is after some compensation here.

Leg 3: Ozzie The Oscar 3/1 Paddy Power

A Listed hurdle and the likely favourite is Omessa Has for trainer Nicky Henderson who has won this race four times in the last 10 years. Philip Hobbs has plenty of fancied runners on the card and his Ozzie The Oscar is improving and could just be good enough here.

Leg 4: Native River 11/2 Bet365

The big one and 20 runners line up for the Hennessy. I have covered this race in the trends section and Native River comes out the marginal selection from the Pipe horse Un Temps Pour Tout. Its a wide open contest once again and former winner Smad Place is fancied again along with the Nicholls pair Vicente and Saphir De Rheu.

Leg 5: Bristol De Mai 9/2 Bet365

Our only visit to Newcastle and a cracking renewal for the Rehearsal Chase. Wakanda won this last season for Sue Smith and turns up again on a 7lbs higher mark. Bristol De Mai is the classy one in the field, he was beaten on his seasonal run by Seeyouatmidnight but will be all the better for the softer ground here.

Leg 6: Parsnip Pete

The final leg is a 2m chase from Newbury and two former winners line up in Grey Gold and Ulck Du Lin. Both face stiff tasks and will do well to win it again. My preference is for course and distance winner Parsnip Pete. He travelled well last time out until lack of match practice told and should be in peak condition now.

:ok

2.55 Newcastle: Fighting Fifth Hurdle

Selection: Petit Mouchoir 3/1 Bet365

This normally goes to a 5 or 6yo that has had a run within the last month. Both Petit Mouchoir and Mirsalle fit that profile and of the two you would have to fancy the Irish runner. The Henry de Bromhead/ Bryan Cooper combo took this last year with a similar type in Identity Thief who was always just below top class.
