an attempt make a bit from Irish racing..... Saturday 21/05/2005 Curragh 04:25 INCH ISLAND f/c. 10/1 stake = 5 pts. EACH WAY LTO This looked pretty competitive on paper but it proved easy for INCH ISLAND, who overcame a slow start to beat a big field over seven furlongs at The Curragh on Monday when he had 9st 3lb. He carried a 5lb penalty for that and the lesser-class race meant that he had to shoulder the welter burden of 10st 3lb but, despite again not being that well away, he was brought with a strong run to lead just inside the final furlong and win comfortably. He is sure to go up quite sharply for this. Trainer Ger Lyons said: "He had a couple of days out in a paddock and I really only ran him because I was bringing Dynamo Dancer for the first race. He seems to handle this kind of ground. He will probably have another couple of runs and he has raced over hurdles." different going but i don't think that will be a problem as he has won on good-firm.

Re: Irish Sunday 22/05/2005 Curragh 04:20 DAMSON f/c. 4/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN first time over 8f but should get it based on breeding 160,000 euros) 6th foal; closely related to smart 7f 2yo winner Geminiani and half-sister to 1m2f winner Motorway; dam 1m2f winner in France, half-sister to French Gr3 winners Tashtiya (1m4f) and Tassmoun (1m) and to useful dam of top-class stayer Tiraaz The Entrepreneur filly was forced to miss the Newmarket equivalent after suffering a setback but she has been pleasing connections in her recent work. However, Wachman is keen to assess conditions at the County Kildare track before committing his star filly to the Classic. “Damson went fine this morning but it is raining here at the moment so we will wait until Friday and see what the ground is like,” he said on Wednesday.

Re: Irish Sunday 29/05/2005 Gowran Park 03:40 POLISH ODYSSEY f/c. 10/1 stake = 5 pts. EACH WAY Polish Odyssey, who won in promising style first time out at The Curragh, may find a few of these more experienced too strong at this stage bit i also think she will improve as well 42 days since her debut win and looks good value at 10/1 LTO POLISH ODYSSEY looked a useful sort in making a winning debut here, justifying Patrick Prendergast's decision to let her take her chance despite reservations about exposing her to such testing conditions first time out. Having tracked the odds-on favourite on the stands' side she quickened up when asked for her effort and stuck to her task well as the race boiled down to a duel, with the pair drawing a long way clear of the remainder. Prendergast hopes to get black type for the winner this season, and assuming that she will be more effective on better ground that could prove a realistic aspiration.

Re: Irish Wednesday 01/06/2005 Leopardstown 07:00 MISS CHAUSSINI f/c. 5/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN Miss Chaussini looked a little unlucky when narrowly beaten in third behind Vintage Year and Shannon Arms on her debut at Fairyhouse, but it might be a mistake to read too much into that performance as the winner and second went into the race with a rating of just 73. LTO Miss Chaussini, making her debut, can be considered unlucky as she was carried badly left by the winner inside the final furlong when trying to challenge following her rider's decision to switch outside the winner rather than go for what looked a big gap on the other side.

Re: Irish Friday 03/06/2005 Tramore 08:00 CEPANGIE f/c. 4/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN LTO CEPANGIE won twice on firm ground in September 2002 but has been lightly raced over the last two seasons and this marked her first victory since then. Settled close to the pace, she made her bid for the lead with a quarter of a mile to run, went to the front over a furlong out and kept on well in the closing stages. Given her liking for quick ground, she can be placed to further advantage over the summer.

Re: Irish Monday 06/06/2005 Tralee 03:30 BUDDY MAN f/c. 6/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN LTO Always travelling sweetly BUDDY MAN made it win number four here when kicking for home after the furlong pole. Despite creeping up steadily up in the weights, Pat Martin's dual purpose campaigner wasn't disgraced in his previous two starts at The Curragh over seven furlongs and he showed the benefit of those couple of outings when winning decisively here. ----------------------------------------------------- Naas 05:50 DIPTEROUS f/c. 8/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN LTO Dipterous ran a fine race under top weight on her reappearance. She had most of her rivals beaten off when leading just inside the furlong pole but could not contain the challenge of Monsusu. She appeals as thetype to pick up a valuable handicap at some stage and seems to handle any ground.

Re: Irish Tuesday 07/06/2005 Tralee 07:25 BAILEYS BEST f/c. 11/2 stake = 10 pts. WIN Bailey's Best was allowed to keep his rating of 77 after beating Colour Coordinated at Limerick. LTO This was a reasonable maiden and it produced a good finish as BAILEYSBEST just got home on his reappearance. Always prominent, he moved up to dispute the lead with a quarter of a mile to run and led over a furlong from home before just managing to hold off the late charge of Colour Coordinated. The winner had run well on soft ground last year and had the added advantage of a good run over this course and distance last October. He will improve from this and should be up to making his mark in handicaps.

Re: Irish Thursday 09/06/2005 Tipperary 08:20 SISTER SOX f/c. 11/4 stake = 10 pts. WIN SISTER SOX, winner of two of her last three starts. She opened her account over the course and trip early last month and went on to finish third to Baggio over 6f at The Curragh before dropping back to the minimum trip at Navan last week-end. She is set to go up 8lb in future handicaps for her one length defeat of Night Delight and runs here under a mandatory 5lb extra.

Re: Irish Friday 10/06/2005 Navan 07:55 DOTTY LORD f/c. 3/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN DOTTY LORD who improved on previous handicap form when third to Peruvian Athlete at Killarney and progressed again from that run to beat Magic Mark at Ballinrobe ten days ago. He seems well suited by quick ground.

Re: Irish Saturday 11/06/2005 Cork 03:00 NIGHT DELIGHT f/c. 10/1 stake = 5 pts. EACH WAY Night Delight chased home Mick Halford's Sister Sox at Navan last weekend, the latter having scored since at Tipperary on Thursday evening. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cork 04:00 DEER PARK f/c. 10/1 stake = 5 pts. EACH WAY LTO Just an ordinary handicap won decisively by top weight DEERPARK who was having his fifth run of the season having scored on his reappearance at Cork in March. That win was over six furlongs and on soft ground, but the extra furlong seemed to suit himwell here and after he went to the front under two furlongs out there was only going to be one outcome. Trainer John Gleeson said of the winner, who appeared to get a bit edgy in the stalls, : "He's a fun horse and we always thought seven furlongs would suit. He'll have a break once the ground gets really fast and will go hurdling later on."

Re: Irish Sunday 12/06/2005 Roscommon 03:15 SHANNON ARMS f/c. 3/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN Shannon Arms was left on 72 after winning a Cork 6f maiden last time at the expense of Live In Fear and Lightwood Lady. LTO SHANNON ARMS was not winning out of turn as he got up late on to deny Live In Fear. The winner travelled strongly in behind the leaders and rallied well when coming under pressure with over a furlong to run, eventually getting on top inside the final 100 yards. He is versatile in terms of ground and has run well over a variety of trips but this looks his optimum distance and he should be able to make his mark in sprint handicaps. ----------------------------------------------------------- Roscommon 04:15 KILBEGGAN LAD f/c. 3/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN KILBEGGAN LAD, who opened his account over fences for Michael Hourigan with a polished display of jumping in Ballinrobe 2m1f last month, can score again. On that occasion he defeated Davenport Democrat by 5l with The Dark Flasher a further 7l adrift in third and he might be good enough to make it two from two over fences.

Re: Irish Tuesday 14/06/2005 Gowran Park 05:55 FLYING BOAT f/c. 7/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN Flying Boat has gone nearly two years without winning a race but might not be too far away from another success to judge from her staying-on third behind Attanagh over 6f at Ballinrobe at the end of last month. --------------------------------------------------------- Gowran Park 06:25 ROCKAZAR f/c. 2/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN ROCKAZAR looks the most logical choice in a race in which all seven runners finished nearer last than first last time out. The selection dropped away in the final quarter-mile at Leopardstown last Wednesday, but stands out in this company by virtue of a course and distance win from Chained Emotion on his seasonal debut last month. --------------------------------------------------------- Gowran Park 07:25 SUPREME INVITE f/c. 9/4 stake = 10 pts. WIN Supreme Invite looks sure to go close if her jumping stands up to this initial test. The mare was having only her third start when winning a Wexford bumper in the style of a progressive type, and is sure to have been well prepared for this.

Re: Irish Wednesday 15/06/2005 Leopardstown 07:00 DIPTEROUS f/c. 5/1 stake = 10 pts. WIN DIPTEROUS may prove the pick in an open little handicap. Considering that she went up 5lb for finishing second on her seasonal debut at Cork she performed well when again taking the runner-up spot behind Soviet Treat at Naas last time, and an additional one pound here may have a negligible effect. ------------------------------------------------ Leopardstown 08:00 KOUKALOVA f/c. 7/2 stake = 10 pts. WIN KOUKALOVA , delivered with a well-crafted late challenge on the outer to beat Annamoe Boy by a neck in an apprentice handicap over a mile at this venue a week ago, can go in again off a 4lb higher mark. The extra furlong should not be a problem, and she is the sort of filly who can continue to prosper now that she has been given plenty of time to mature. ------------------------------------------------ Leopardstown 08:30 BACK TO PARIS f/c. 9/4 stake = 10 pts. WIN BACK TO PARIS has won two of his last three starts and has a clear chance of denying the 5lb penalty picked up in beating Deerpark by two lengths at Cork on Saturday.
