Kevin Proctor, the Poker Operations Manager for Genting, said: “We have listened to player’s feedback and in the present dark climate we want to put the fun back into poker. In the past we have been too poker-focused, so with the introduction of Poker Seminars from well-known UK Poker Players and the earlier finish to the Main Event we want players to have the opportunity to relax in the bar or play more poker if they wish. I like the introduction of the Mix/Max and we have seen Omaha regain popularity in the UK so it seems a good combination and puts a different variety into the GPS. With the charity game we feel we are doing our bit in the Poker community to help local charities. “I believe that the GPS Mini will prove popular with all players and we are delighted to be introducing new venues to the Genting Poker Series family.” Each GPS Main Event now only plays eight levels instead of ten, which shortens the day significantly. Furthermore, fans of Omaha and Mix/Max formats should be delighted that each leg of the 2015 GPS is to have one of those events spread at it. One of the other fun elements is the charity “Beat the Boss” cash game that sees the new Tournament Director Colin McTaggart play against selected players on a Live Streamed table and any winnings that McTaggart makes are donated to a local charity. Players do not have long to wait if they want to see the new-style GPS because the first leg of 2015 kicks off on February 2 at Star City in Birmingham.
