Betting in Euros/Sterling in Ireland / UK

I'm from the UK but I'm in Ireland at the moment, came over for Punchestown. So I had a bet in the betting shop in Dublin (PP) and asked if I can bet Sterling, the cashier says yes and I explain I'd like to be payed out in Sterling should it win. So my bet wins and now I'm told they're going to pay me back in Euros to a rate of 1.1. Bunch of robbers, talk about making your own rules up. :eyes Anyone else had problems with the bookies when betting in euros or sterling, either side of the water?
