Spread betting always selling

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere that punters always want to see goals/tries/runs etc so will more often than not back overs or on spread betting, buy rather than sell. Apparently bookies take this into account. With this in mind would a very simple strategy of always selling work in the long run? I have tried it out on batsmans runs in the Cricket World Cup and whilst the occasional 200 like the West Indian got yesterday would have a big effect but so far I am so far collecting money most of the time from batsmen that fail to get the 35-50 runs the bookies generally quote. Spread betting is attracting my interest at the moment. Anybody have any theories on this of tops generally re spread betting?

Re: Spread betting always selling "No" would be the short answer in general terms, at least in most markets. You're about 20 years late for that party (when punters were blindly buying corners at 16 because no one had a clue about the true stats). There are too many shrewd sellers around now for the firms to get away with that. The spreads are wide enough for the true price to be in the middle, though the tendency for most people to buy may mean the true price is closer to the sell price than the buy. Short on time at the mo but will try and share more structured thoughts at some point.
