Wincanton 3:15 - Stanjames.com Elite Hurdle(LIMITED HANDICAP) (Grade 2) (1) 2m Getting back to Irving, I think he is a quality horse but he looks far too short a price to get involved here considering how poorly the yard have been doing with their horses first time out this season. Paul Nicholls has stated recently that most of his horses will need a run so it's not like we have not been warned. He sets a very solid standard nonetheless, bolting up in a couple of Grade 2's last term before a disappointing run in the Supreme but he may need more cut in the ground. I am happy to take him on with the bang in form Bertimont who was awesome on his first run for the Skelton yard who may have unlocked the key to the horse. At the prices, he makes more appeal for me. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday November 8th 3.15 Wincanton: Elite Hurdle (2m) Good turnout for this renewal of the Elite Hurdle and we see the return of former Champion Hurdle winner Rock On Ruby. He tried his hand at chasing last term without much success and ended the season running The New One close at Aintree. Two things against him here, the ground is on the softish side and anymore rain would be a blow and i think he needs further nowadays. Favourite Irving is hard to ignore, he flopped at the Festival but previous to that was very impressive indeed and although some of the Nicholls horses have needed a run, some haven't and his speedier sorts have got away with it. Bertimont was given the race last time and flattered by his winning distance so the 10lb rise is harsh in my opinion and the danger could be Forgotten Voice from the Henderson yard who themselves have had a slow start to the new season.
