www.sports-betting.co.uk
LAST WEEK: Staked 5 pts Returns 1 pt (NR) P&L -4 pts BANK = 188.5 pts ====================== Shell Houston Open Top European Thomas Levet - It may appear a strange choice at first, but it’s a very average group of Europeans in the field this week. Although we have pointed out it’s a course that will favour the long hitters this week, shorter hitters can make it to the top of the leaderboard. Levet may not be the longest, but he played well at a wet Augusta, and followed that up with 6th at Hilton Head. He’s got his game back together after a shocking start to 2005, and last week he was pleased to finish where he did without actually doing anything special. The only thing that cost him was some poor putting in rounds 2 and 3, so more consistency with the flat stick could see him surprise a few people on a course he knows and likes after his visit two years ago. Most of the Europeans in the field this week, if we’re being honest, will be happy to keep their cards; Levet, along with Clarke and Olazabal, will only be happy with victories. Thomas Levet 1pt each way 11/1 Betfred 10/1 Bet365, Stan James Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf After a month’s break the Champions Tour is back for the Legends of Golf at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort, it’s home since 2003. The 52 players in the field this week is significantly smaller than usual 78, as this is one of the over-50s events where eligibility criteria come into play. Basically it amounts to past tournament winners, major champions and leading money winners. After the lay-off it will be interesting to see who is still rusty. Some, such as Haas , Kite and Stadler, have played in PGA Tour events, while players like Dana Quigley will play golf almost every day even in their time off from competition. As with the Houston Open this week, scattered thunderstorms are expected, so we’ll keep stakes to a minimum. Mark McNulty – After a delayed start to his Champions Tour career due to shingles, McNulty won his very first event fourteen months ago at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. After more injury forced him out last August and September, the South African returned to win back-to-back tournaments, his last outings of an eventful debut season. This year has seen McNulty starting to confirm his status as one of the leading players on tour, with two runners-ups spots and 8th place at the Toshiba Senior Classic, the last tournament before the break. Bruce Fleisher – Fleisher is one of the most consistent performers on the Champions Tour. Since he started on the over-50s circuit in 1999, Fleisher has played in 187 events with 101 Top-10 finishes, with 53 of those in the top 3. This year sees no difference with finishes of 15-5-12-25-10-15 in his six starts, and there’s also improvement in his stats with improved putting from last year and a scoring average down to 69.94. In the 6 rounds he’s played on this course, Fleisher has shot 75-69-68-68-69-71; those last three rounds earned him 6th place last year, so he offers good value to challenge for the title this year.
