MLB - Season Long

Recommended Posts

I'm going to start with a bank of 250 and see where I can get to; hopefully I won't finish too badly! Monday 18 April 16:05BST: Toronto Blue Jays (8-5)(6-4) @ Boston Red Sox (7-5)(5-1) David Bush -vs- Curt Schilling As with the Yankees and Cardinals you are always going to get prices that are too short unless the Red Sox are playing the Yankees when you get an over priced Sox team. Curt Shilling is playing injured, everybody can see this. He played terrible against the Yankees and it could well be the same again today. He is also not doing to well over his career against some of these Blue Jays hitters and could be punished heavily tonight. I don't know what else to say for this other than it is packed full of value even if Bush is pitching. Line: Toronto Blue Jays (9/5 William Hill) 00:05BST: Detroit Tigers (5-7)(2-4) @ Baltimore Orioles (8-4)(4-2) Jason Johnson -vs- Erik Bedard Johnson returns to Baltimore to pitch, and if he thought his night against the Twins was bad it could easily get a lot worse at his old home! Currently his ERA for the season is at 6.43. Baltimore will be riding the high of sweeping the Yankees over the weekend and the Tigers recovered well after losing the first game that should have been won against the Royals. Berdard, ERA 1.50, has had a solid start to the season and will be expected to continue this tonight. Tigers haven't faced many lefties so far this year and haven't done to well when they have, so another little advantage. Line: Baltimore Orioles -1½ (7/5 William Hill) 00:10BST: Chicago Cubs (6-6)(3-3) @ Cincinnati Reds (6-5)(5-1) Kevin Wood -vs- Matt Belisle Kerry Wood will be looking to continue what is a career long dominance of the Cincinnati Reds tonight. With 18 starts he is going 12-3 with a 2.74 ERA and 155 strikeouts in 121 1-3 innings against the Reds. He hasn't had the best of starts this season, starting 2 games and a loss coming against the Padres, however going into a comfortable game (an away evening team against a career long "good" team has shown his best pitching over the last 3 years). As for Matt Belisle, he is in to replace Ramon Ortiz who is on the injury list, he is a guy who I don't know a huge amount of detail about but seems like he may end up playing into the hands of the veteran hitters on the Cubs. He was playing in Louisville last year in the AAA, and his ERA was 5.26! Line: Chicago Cubs -1½ (11/10 William Hill) Bets 3 x 8point doubles 1 x 1point treble 15points on the Blue Jays @ 9/5 Total stake 40points.

Re: MLB - Season Long Initial Bank: 250points Current Bank: 210points Profit: -40points A horrible start yesterday, Toronto failing to take their chance at the top of the second summed up the whole day I think! Hopefully a little better today ... 19:05BST: Oakland Athletics (7-6)(4-3)[Joe Blanton] @ Texas Rangers (6-8)(3-5)[Pedro Astacio] Start off with summing the teams preferances up, and both appear to prefer their daytime games, and the Athletics record on grass is slightly more impressive (6-4) while the Rangers haven't played on turf as yet. Blanton has started off reasonably well, taking part in only a couple of games but over the 2 games the team only gave up 6 runs. ERA 2.54. Pedro has started 0-1 which is a little unfair, but the team has given up 8 runs in the 2 games he has been involved in, with an ERA of 2.57. His last game against Toronto was where his loss came from (2-1 loss) and he had a pretty good game. However he rarely manages to put a little run of good games together, and I don't see that changing tonight. Also the recent injuries to Astacio may play a part in this, and come the 5th inning I would expect to see him starting to get punished a little. Line: Oakland Athletics (23/20 William Hill) 00:05BST: Tampa Bay Devil Rays (4-9)(4-3)[Mark Hendrickson] @ New York Yankees (5-8)(0-4)[Randy Johnson] Well there is no point in betting on the Yankees as the value just isn't there, although after the bollocking they got from upstairs over the past couple of days seems to have woke them up! Last nights game was a 19-8 win for the Yankees, helped mainly due to the fact they put 13 points on the board in the bottom of the second. The Yankees will see this as the chance to go out and destroy them again and try and get some of the New York press off their back at least for a couple of days. The line is 9.5points and at home the Yankees are over that in 5 of 7 games, and on the road the Rays are over it in 2 of 4 games. Overall the Yankees are over it 8 of 14 games and the Rays 6 of 14. Hendrikson has been involved in a couple of home games, being awarded 1 loss, and one of the games finishing up with 13 points. His ERA is 4.15. Johnson is more interesting in the fact he has been involved in 3 games, including 1 road game, and all have finished with 11 or more, with him being given the win in 1 game. His ERA is 4.74. Line: Devil Rays @ Yankees OVER 9.5 (10/11 William Hill) 03:05BST: San Francisco Giants (6-6)(2-4)[Jerome Williams] @ San Diego Padres (6-7)(3-2)[Brian Lawrence] Williams has had a very good start to the season despite still being (0-0) with an ERA of 2.35. April 9th he played 7 innings of a 4-2 win against the Rockies and gave up 1 run, 5 hits, 1 walk and 5 strike outs and got a no decision! Last year Williams started twice against the Padres and won both games giving up two runs on eight hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. As for Lawrence, he has had a terrible start (0-2) with an ERA of 8.38. He played just under 3 innings against the Cubs on Wednesday and gave up 7 runs on 9 hits (1 walk and 1 strike out). All the value appears to be in the Giants here! Line: San Francisco Giants (6/5 William Hill) Lines: 3 x 8point doubles 1 x 6point treble Total Stake: 30 points Total Bank: 180points
