Whoneedsrio (John) had mentioned Polarisation being a big looking animal, can you believe the condition and size of that horse and he's only a 2 year old? Took a load of pictures and tried to keep hydrated but ended up burning the back of my neck, absolutely glorious weather yesterday. They were queueing 3 deep at the course enclosure even up to the 3rd race. I haven't seen the crowd but I've been there when it's been 42,000 attendance. Couldn't get on Betfair via 3g or Wifi to get a bet on Golden Town, sure enough it went and bloody won. :eek Worst part of the day was seeing Tarikhi collapse and die in front of us. Fallon had jumped off him as they came towards the paddock but he looked like he was going to rear up and he bowled Fallon over and then collapsed onto his side. I initially thought the horse had fallen on Kieren Fallon but he got up and out of the way. They must have thought it was just heat exhaustion at first as they threw buckets of water over Tarikhi but sadly he wasn't moving. They stated he had burst a major blood vessel and died. The screens were up almost immediately but we knew his fate already. Fallon was stood down for the rest of the day. I've been at the races and seen horses fall but it's usually viewing it via a big screen. It felt somewhat sickening to see it with my own eyes not far from where we were stood. The rest of the day felt irrelevant when this horse had died and thoughts go out to connections and all involved with Tarikhi.
