Re: Indian Premier League I seem to pop up every season for the IPL and then vanish into obscurity for the rest of the year. But alas here I am. Now I don't want to regurgitate everything that I have said HERE but I'll summarise my main thoughts ahead of this years competition. I can't look past Chennai for the overall tournament. Their side to me is the most balanced, they have the best skipper in the business and they've been there and done it before which counts for a lot in this format of the game. I really do not like RCB. They're bowling is futile. Neither Mumbai too. Chennai for me. I seem to always back kKR in some shape or form for this tournament and you might think I'm mad for doing so this year but I can't have this price for them. Their bowling this year has stepped up massively. In the same way that Steyn/Sharma/Mishra led a terrible Hyderabad side to an impressive season last year I really think the additions of Vinay Kumar (very handy seamer), Piyush Chawla, Morne Morkel and Pat Cummins can help Narine for KKR this year. I venture more into trading than backing outright nowadays, I really can't see that price on them sticking around for much longer. I'll back them tentatively with a few to trade later on for sure. As for Top Batters. I like Hussey again this year. He won the whole thing last year, I'm pretty sure he'll play every match for Mumbai Indians and I'm sure he'll be as solid as ever. Virat Kohli needs absolutely no introduction. He's the worlds best batsman for me at the moment and again, at Number 3 he'll get time at the crease and is almost guaranteed runs at the Road over in Bangalore. Skinny odds, but fuck it, that'll get smaller as well. Narine, top KKR bowler is an easy one. Not sure how that is 15/8. Similarly, I like Mitchell Johnson for KXIP. My only concern with that is his fitness levels not holding up but even still, dude is arguably the best pace bowler in the world right now. He took the most wickets in the whole competition last year and really and truly, he can afford to miss a few games and still take more wickets than anyone over at Kings' franchise. Speaking of the Aussies, I really really want to back Glenn Maxwell in some style but I'm tentative. He had a very questionnable IPL last year and I'm not sure how much to read into that. I feel in the past 12 months he's come into his own as a player and really found out who he is. Due to him potentially not playing high enough up the order, I don't want to take him on in the Top Runscorer market. I don't fancy him for his Top Franchise runscorer either. I like him in Most Sixes though. My guy deals in 6's and not 4's. He can really hit that thing when he wants to and at 6/1 I like him to rival Gayle who is unbackable at odds-against. Especially with Gayle's new tactic of blocking everything until getting to 30 and then getting out. I haven't decided on pulling the trigger on that yet but I'm keen on Maxwell running the big guy close. – Back Chennai Super Kings at 5.6 – Back Kolkata Knight Riders at 13.0 – Back Virat Kohli at 6.0 – Back Michael Hussey at 19.5 – Back Sunil Narine to be KKR’s Top Wicket Taker at 15/8 @ Stan James. – Back Mitchell Johsnon to be KXIP's Top Wicket Taker at 6/4 @ Stan James. To conclude then, the following are my bets for this years tournament. I seem to have a lot more luck trading t20 games than betting on them outright so you may not see that many posts in here from me as the tournament goes on. As a rule of thumb though, hold fire on opposing Rajasthan Royals at home and be wary of backing the side batting FIRST at RCB. That's fucked me major in the past. Good luck and god-speed my brothers.

Re: Indian Premier League One outright to begin with. 1pt ew Vinay Kumar Top Tournament Bowler - 40/1 (1-5 places, 1/4 odds) Paddy Power Top tournament bowler market is always tricky and difficult to look beyond the likes of Malinga and Narine but I'm taking a small punt on Vinay Kumar here at an attractive price. He has moved from RCB to KKR but he is a seasoned campaigner not only in the IPL but also Indian domestic cricket so this will serve him well on the familiar Indian pitches and also in the UAE. His domestic form has been very good so he's in good touch coming into the IPL. He bowls in the powerplays and often batsmen's eyes light up when he comes into bowl which is not always a bad thing as it means a few cheap wickets will come his way and having featured in the top 5 wicket takers list in the previous two IPL campaigns I'll take a punt on Vinay to feature again.

Re: Indian Premier League Hey guys, back for my fav T20 comp! Few of my bets: Mumbai Indians to win outright 6/1 bet365 MI have reasonable chance of following up in my opinion, Hussey is a decent signing, will bring stability at the top, Rohit Sharma and Rayudu have plenty of experience, Corey Anderson and Pollard add power to the middle order, the bowling looks to be the strength with Zaheer, Harbhajan, Ojha and of course Malinga the go to guy in this format. Top batsman Rohit Sharma 18-1 EW 5 places 1/4 odds skybet/stanjames The skipper had a really good world t20 and although he'll bat 3 for MI, he is a real class act, think it ties in with the outright, if he goes well, so will MI. Top bowler Piyush Chawla 50/1 EW 5 places 1/4 odds coral Huge price! In tandem with Narine he could be a real handful in spin friendly conditions, teams might try and milk Narine for 5-6-7 an over and then target Chawla, this would give the diminutive leg spinner more of a chance of picking up wickets, bowls with good variations including a decent googly up his sleeve.

Re: Indian Premier League Good to have you back all :ok.

As a rule of thumb though' date=' hold fire on opposing Rajasthan Royals at home[/quote'] No need to worry about holding fire on the Royals this season. Their fortress is in Jaipur and they don't play a single game there this season. The Bangalore point is spot on though.

Re: Indian Premier League Was meant to do these earlier but a certain celebration got in the way :D. Tournament preview: 2pts ew Sunrisers Hyderabad to win IPL7 11/2 Ladbrokes (1/2 1-2) The side I think will go very well are the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Sunrisers made the playoffs last season but failed to make the final but they have strengthened nicely in the close season with the likes of Aaron Finch, David Warner and Jason Holder signed as overseas players and Irfan Pathan a good quality Indian player signed too. With India internationals Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvi Kumar and Amit Mishra providing quality too not to mention the likes of Dale Steyn who was retained by the franchise the Sunrisers have every chance of a massive season. They look strong in all departments and are the team to beat for me. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/indian-premier-league-betting-hyderabad-can-rise-above-the-rest-in-ipl7

Re: Indian Premier League Top Tournament batsman preview: 1pt ew G.Gambhir Top Tournament Batsman 25/1 Paddy Power (1/4 1-5) One man who I believe can benefit by the tournament being away from India for half of the season is the Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir. He has warmed up for this tournament by ploughing in the runs for Delhi in their regional T20 tournament so he’s in good nick and with half of his home games away from Eden Gardens that should benefit him. Gambhir is a regular run scorer in this tournament and was second in the rankings two years ago. He has a point to prove and can do that with a mountain of runs this season Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/indian-premier-league-betting-gautam-gambhir-can-fill-his-boots-this-season

Re: Indian Premier League Top Tournament Bowler preview: 1pt ew A.Mishra Top Tournament Bowler 14/1 Stan James (1/4 1-4) Spinners worth a second look include Piyush Chawla, Samuel Badree, Ravi Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh not to mention Ravi Jadeja but it is another spinner I like this season. Amit Mishra is a regular wicket taker in the IPL and I think that can stay the case this season. The wickets in the UAE will definitely spin so I think spinners will go well and with the Sunrisers having Dale Steyn and Bhuvi Kumar opening the bowling teams are going to be behind the run rate a lot of the times so may need to attack Mishra. That’s when he comes into his own so on friendly wickets I think the Hyderabad leggie can go well this season. Re: Indian Premier League Game one preview: 3pts Kolkata Knight Riders to beat Mumbai Indians 5/4 Paddy Power Mumbai are favourites for this match but I’m not altogether convinced they should be. Kolkata have a very strong looking bowling attack and if they can put the runs on the board they would have every chance here. It is true that Mumbai lack nothing with the bat or the ball but they are aging a little bit and if Malinga doesn’t fire there is a possibility they could get smashed around a bit early on. Kolkata will be out to make up for a disastrous season last term and can start this one with an eye catching win. Re: Indian Premier League Game two preview: 3pts Delhi Daredevils Highest 1st 6 overs 11/10 Skybet Bangalore look a little short to me in this match particularly at this stage of the season but I’m in no rush to take Delhi without Pietersen but one area I do like them in is the first six overs. We’ve seen in recent tournaments that Gayle likes to play himself in and that presents the chance for Delhi to lead through six overs. They have shot makers who can get on with it and Bangalore’s seamers can all go around the park. With Gayle being steady to start there is enough value in Delhi to have the highest six over total at 11/10. Re: Indian Premier League Friday previews: 3pts Kings XI Punjab to beat Chennai Super Kings 5/4 Betway The wicket used here in the opening match was a very green one and that may not suit the Super Kings who are primarily spin orientated in their bowling attack. The wicket looks like it will suit Mitchell Johnson down to the ground and also the Australian batsmen in the Kings XI line up so they look good value here. Chennai aren’t always the best starters to seasons so there’s enough to merit backing the Kings XI in this one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/chennai-super-kings-vs-kings-xi-punjab-betting-kings-xi-can-enjoy-abu-dhabi-conditions 4pts Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Rajasthan Royals 8/11 Paddy Power Traditionally Rajasthan have been a much difference side outside of Jaipur than the one they are in Jaipur and I can’t help but feel that will go against them in this tournament. Their batting looks to lack a little bit of standout quality despite Rahane and Watson’s presence and their Indian bowlers don’t immediately jump out. I think the Sunrisers have the best bowling attack in the competition and with a powerful batting line up I think they’ll get the job done in this one. Re: Indian Premier League 4pts - Maxwell Top Punjab Batsman v CSK - 4/1 Skybet The way Maxwell was striking the ball for Australia in the World T20 was phenomenal and he is fast becoming one of the most feared batsmen in the shorter format not only with his ability to strike the ball but also his fearless approach. He will probably bat at 3 or 4 for the Kings XI but quite frankly it doesn't matter as all it will take is a 15-20 ball stay at the crease for Maxwell to be in contention. The reason I like this bet even more is as Kev points out above CSK have a largely spin attack which is what Maxwell relishes, in addition the CSK seamers are all very hittable. So although Punjab have some other dangerous batsmen in the likes of Sehwag, Bailey and Miller I'm going to back the 'big show' in today's opener.

Re: Indian Premier League Top shout as always Westy :clap Saturday previews: 4pts Bangalore vs Mumbai - Over 9.5 6s 5/6 Ladbrokes We’ve got two big hitting sides going at it in this match and that should allow for a few sixes to be hit in this one. Bangalore look like they are going to hit a lot of sixes this season, particularly when Chris Gayle is back in their ranks while in Kieron Pollard, Corey Anderson and Rohit Sharma, Mumbai have plenty of big hitting in their arsenal so all things being equal the sixes count should go into double figures in this match. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/royal-challengers-bangalore-vs-mumbai-indians-betting-expect-a-lot-of-sixes-in-this-one 4pts Kolkata to beat Delhi 8/11 Paddy Power I don’t think Delhi are as bad as they looked on Thursday but it is clear they lacked a bit of nous and leadership in the field and that could well be the same here too. Kolkata looked very strong and I expect them to get stronger when their batting starts firing. They have some players who are too good not to fire so I like the Knight Riders to make it two from two here. Re: Indian Premier League Good shout on the Kings XI yourself Kev! 3pts Mike Hussey over 20.5 runs 4/5 Paddy Power Mr Cricket will want to make amends for his failure in his first game for the Mumbai Indians. He is the kind of guy who will put in double the yards in practice after a defeat and with Mumbai's line up looking shakey I think he'll take the responsibility to bat long. RCBs attack doesn't have too much to worry about so I'll back Hussey to find some form with 21+ runs today. Sent from my GT-I9300 using PL Forum

Re: Indian Premier League Sunday preview: 4pts G.Maxwell's Performance Pts - 35&Over 5/6 Bet365 Glenn Maxwell is going to be a massive player for the Kings XI this season and I expect him to show that here. We saw this wicket turn in the opening game in Sharjah and I think it will here so don’t be surprised if Maxwell bags a wicket but there is barely a game go by where Maxwell doesn’t take catches and score well with the bat so all that combined should see him cover a performance total of 35pts. Re: Indian Premier League 3pts - Punjab Highest Opening Partnership v Rajasthan - Evens Paddy Power 3pts - A Nayar under 17.5 runs - 10/11 Paddy Power Punjab opened with Sehwag and Pujara in their opening game and I think they will stick with this combination. Sehwag looked in decent nick while Pujara will look to anchor the innings and together they have fundamentals of a decent opening pair. On the other hand the Royals opened with Nayar alongside Rahane and I think the former is a poor option at the top of the order especially against good pace bowlers, we saw how Dale Steyn exploited Nayar's open stance trapping him LBW and I think Mitchell Johnson could do the same today. For the same reason I will be taking Nayar under 18 runs as I think he is a misfit at the top of the order.

Re: Indian Premier League Let's see what they're like when they bat first. Monday preview: 3pts Delhi to beat Chennai 6/4 Stan James Even without Pietersen I still think Delhi have a chance here. They have a good bowling line up with the likes of Mohammad Shami and Nathan Coulter-Nile in their side whereas Chennai’s attack looks very weak especially if there is no turn in the wicket. Delhi will need to bowl well up top to keep Smith and McCullum quiet but if they can do that they can restrict Chennai to a score their batsmen can chase down. Re: Indian Premier League Tuesday preview: 4pts Hyderabad Highest 1st 6 overs 10/11 Coral It will be interesting to see if the Kings XI can keep up their good recent form. There is every chance they could but there is no value in them especially with them needing a couple of men to fire. For me the value lies in the first six overs. Sunrisers will go in with Finch, Dhawan and Warner in their top three while Pujara, an out of form Sehwag and someone like Saha. Throw in the Steyn factor and the Sunrisers look good things to lead through six overs here. Re: Indian Premier League 7/10 stakes on Punjab to win (vs Hyderabad) @ 1.80 betvictor Punjab has impressed me immensely in their two matches. Their batting is THE best I think and if sehwag finds some form as well, they will be unstoppable. They do have a weaker bowling lineup then sunrisers but same can be said for sunrisers batting. The form that maxwell and miller are in, causes me to favor Punjab obviously, especially because steyn and ishant can be got at just as much as Punjabs bowlers in this format. I reckon Punjab should be clear favs and priced at 1.70

Re: Indian Premier League CSK Vs RR CSK most match 6's @5/6 skybet We saw fat shane come into some form for the royals, along with Binny and Smith all can clear the ropes on a given day, however i think the percentage call here are Chennai, be surprised if one or two of McCullum, Smith, Raina, Faf, Dhoni or even Jadeja dont get in and cause some serious carnage in the sixes department here.

Re: Indian Premier League Wednesday preview: 4pts Rajasthan vs Chennai - Over 8.5 sixes 8/11 Paddy Power I think this will be a high scoring match between two pretty powerful batting line ups and two bowling attacks who could be better. With that in mind I think we’ll see a few sixes. With the likes of Smith, McCullum, Raina, du Plessis, Dhoni, Watson, Faulkner and even the likes of Samson, Jadeja and Binny there is plenty of firepower in these two sides so nine sixes should be well within their range. Re: Indian Premier League Thursday preview: 4pts Bangalore vs Kolkata - Over 13.5 sixes 5/6 Paddy Power You would think Bangalore will have too much firepower for Kolkata but if Sunil Narine has a good night that is no guarantee. The best bet to me looks to be over 13.5 sixes. We’ve seen throughout this tournament to date that this is a small ground. If Bangalore bat first they could blow this total apart but they don’t have the best bowling attack so Kolkata should clear the ropes themselves so I like this total to be covered.
