Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday March 29th Newport look excellent value IMO. Still 2.2 with StanJames :OK Newport had been pretty tough to beat on their own patch yet haven't won here in seven games. You'd have to fancy them to pick up three points here. In spite of the fact we're fighting relegation we have been playing dreadful dull football for weeks now and manager Richie Barker was sacked today after a mere twenty games. Absolute shambles IMO as we've signed a lot of players, breaking our budget and have had two virtually different squads this season. Since Whittingham left our squad has seen a lot of changes with other players being frozen out and there was a bit of a battle of egos between Barker and Connolly which ended with the latter being farmed off on loan. Loads of players coming in and too much money being wasted. There's lots of talk about pulling together and "doing it for the fans" but you never see any action following these words. Andy Awford has been placed in temporary charge so I'd expect to see plenty more defending and negative football. To compound matters we've signed yet another loan midfielder from Charlton - Danny Hollands. Another player with bags of experience and zero commitment for Pompey. We've fcuked up by blowing cash on "experienced" footballers while gelling on our promising youngsters, most of whom were born in and around Pompey and would probably fight a lot harder or even do a better job than some of the players we've signed on good money. Get on Newport while you can is my advice!

That one win was against us .... Which shows how bad we are right now! Southend haven't been fancied all season by the bookies and although they had a period where their form did dip alarmingly, they seem to have regained some lost momentum with a win and two draws in their last three. Crucially they haven't conceded in those three games. Barry Corr is still suspended but they have plenty of options now, especially since Jamar Loza signed on loan from Norwich.

Southend look another side worth getting all over this weekend... You can get evens :loon which is astonishing considering they face a Torquay side who are bottom of the league with one win in their last six aways, losing the other five. That one win was against us .... Which shows how bad we are right now! Southend haven't been fancied all season by the bookies and although they had a period where their form did dip alarmingly, they seem to have regained some lost momentum with a win and two draws in their last three. Crucially they haven't conceded in those three games. Barry Corr is still suspended but they have plenty of options now, especially since Jamar Loza signed on loan from Norwich.

Southend have also signed Jacob Murphy from us on loan this week, another very highly rated youngster at Norwich who plays on the wing.
