Smarty72 - Anti-Post Cheltenham 2015

Recommended Posts

Going to give this another go as love the Greatest festival in the World Cheltenham! Disappointing 2014 with only one winner but with hopefully this year will see better bets at better prices. Going to ignore all handicaps and concentrate on the following races..... Supreme Novice Hurdle Arkle Novice Chase Champion Hurdle Mares Hurdle Neptune Novice Hurdle RSA Novice Chase Champion Chase JLT Novice Chase Ryanair Chase World Hurdle Triumph Hurdle Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle Gold Cup Early fancies from this years festival races are as follows but at this stage no bets...... Western Warhorse trained by David Pipe and winner of the Arkle who I expect to be stepped up in distance next year to contest either the Ryanair Chase or even maybe the Gold Cup. Could also target the Champion Chase but as most of his runs have been over longer expect that the longer races will be targeted. One thing is certain, barring injury to the horse David Pipe will be aiming this horse at the festival in 2015. Western Warhorse is best priced at 20\1 for the champion chase, not quoted for the Ryanair Chase and the Gold Cup 25\1. Trifolium trained by Charles Byrnes in Ireland for Gigginstown Stud looks a pure 2 miler and will surely be aimed at the Champion Chase in 2015. Has good placed form at at Cheltenham and is currently best priced at 20\1. Again the festival should be the main aim for this horse next season. Jezki trained by Mrs J Harrington in Ireland, the champion hurdler will be back to defend his crown as the number 1 JP McManus horse and is best priced at 7\1 to retain his crown. Looks a good price for a reigning Champion Hurdler but it is hard to defend your crown and a hard race this year may have left its mark. The New One may have a go at the Champion Hurdle crown next year after looking a little unlucky this year but connections may decide that novice chasing is the route to go. Watching brief at the moment until future targets are decided but one to consider. Best priced at 6\1 for the champion hurdle. O'Faolains Boy trained by Rebecca Curtis won this years RSA chase and will surely be aimed at the Gold Cup next year. RSA winners have a good record in the Gold Cup the following year with the 2 previous winners Bob's Worth and Lord Windermere going on to Gold Cup glory the following year. Current best price 20\1. Smad Place trained by Alan King was a neck 2nd in the RSA this year at Cheltenham. Real stayer and will be aimed at the Gold Cup and is best priced at 25\1. But has had 20 career runs and may not have as much scope to improve as O'Faolains Boy. Would be looking for a much bigger price. Taquin Du Seuil trained by Jonjo O'Neill was the winner of the JLT novice chase. The Ryanair (10\1) or Gold Cup (25\1) will be the target. Would need to see that he handles a 3m plus trip before considering the Gold Cup. The Ryanair looks to be the favorite but prices fluctuate a lot in this market and would be looking for a much better price than currently available. Fingal Bay trained by Philip Hobbs was the winner of the Pertemps final and the world hurdle could be the target next year. Has already attempted chasing with no success and connections will probably stick to hurdling next season. Not currently quoted for world hurdle. May have another shot at chasing if they feel that the jumping issues when last chasing have been sorted so one to watch. More Of That trained by Jonjo O'Neill was the world hurdle winner this year. Will be of big interest next year and looks set to be a very good horse. May go novice chasing so RSA (not quoted) could be the target or stick to another season hurdling but not an anti-post bet at current odds of 7\2. Have not included any Willie Mullins runners because the targets for his horses is a total guessing game with most given multiple entrys and the large numbers of horses he trains means that you have no idea what horse will be aimed at which race. Also has had little success with chasers at the festival. Mullins will however have contenders for all the hurdles races at the festival and need to be looked at around christmas time. Have also ignored Nicky Henderson runners as most are poor value anti-post and he tends to have a large number of hype horses. He will however have contenders for the Supreme Novice Hurdle, Champion Hurdle, the 3 Grade 1 Novice chases, Champion Chase and Gold Cup. Just a case of identifying these horses next season but to early at this stage. Paul Nicholls has had a poor festival this last 2 years and would need to see an upturn in big race results. Paul Nicholls just does not seem to be able to get his horses ready to run at there best for the festival these days. 2 UK trainers who have had a great 2014 Cheltenham festival are David Pipe and Jonjo O'Neill and will be watching there runners with interest and one eye on next years festival.
