Photos Punchestown, Saturday

Have been to Punchestown yesterday. Wasn't the most exciting card but still decent racing and the chasing debut of Champagne Fever was surly the highlight of the day. And I have to say he does look like the real deal over the big fences. Such an impressive individual, the rest of the field looked like ponies compared to him! Punchestown is a strange course, considering it is headquarter for Irish NH racing. Loads of space, great bars and pubs, fantastic parade ring, viewing from the stand is great, despite being such a specious track. But the stand itself is just ugly, without any character and is not worthy for such an important track. Also transport to the track - if you don't own a car - is an absolute disaster. Anyway, thanks god the sun was out halfway through the card yesterday, I even found some winners, something I almost forgot how it feels, and the races were good, the cross-country being the highlight, with an exciting finish.
