Towcester & McCoy's milestone

Recommended Posts

On a unusually pleasant November afternoon, a packed Towcester racecourse witnessed a moment in history as AP McCoy reached a staggering 4,000 winners. Free entry at the course meant that there was probably 3 or 4 times as many spectators as is the norm and the champion jockey did not disappoint as he and Mountain Tune passed the post half a length ahead of Kris Spin. The anticipation was great; media clambered to get a good position and the strange spectacle of a helicopter landing at the course after the first race on the card (sadly McCoy was not a passenger). I managed to share a few words with Mick Fitzgerald before the race, which was pleasing enough, but missed the chance to grill McCoy afterwards as he was ushered to the weighing room by security guards through the throng of onlookers. Extremely happy for him; a great ambassador for the sport and it will be a day I never forget! 1385759_10101145853836747_196628735_n.jpg After the race he paraded in front of the stand, which was a nice touch. 1394449_10101145584990517_2054663465_n.jpg
