Swindon V Poole (1) 1.85 B and W Airtek trophy Swindon have a powerful top three, and, hopefully, these three will score enough to build the foundations for a home win, new boy Seb Alden was impressive in practice, and maybe he can contribute something, both sets of reserves look a little weak, but, swindon may have a very slight edge here. Poole had a draw here last time, but, things did tend to go their way, and I fully expect a tough tight tense match tonight, I just about give it to Swindon because of home advantage. Oxford V Wolverhampton +15.5 (2) 1.9 B and W. Airtek trophy. Oxford have assembled a very strong looking side indeed, however, the returning Lukas Dryml will be a key rider for them, a lot will depend on him getting back to his old form. Americans Billy Hamill and Greg Hancock are sure to score a lot of points, and Iverson and Mc Gowan should provide good back up. Wolverhampton are one of the weaker teams, at least on paper, but, 15.5 is a very big handicap for Oxford to overcome, especially when you realise that should Wolves go 10 points down, then they can nominate a rider to race for double points. Max, Howe and Lingren should score the most for them, but, Steve Johnston cannot be ignored, he moved from Swindon in the close season, and he will be eager to do well. Magnus Karlsson is at reserve, I am not sure about his Oxford form, but he is good at home, and he COULD be a trump card. Oxford will almost certainly win this, but with a 15.5 handicap Wolves must stand a chance. My bets on these matches tonight are two singles and a double, with small stakes. Ipswich V Belle Vue (2) 2.15 B and W. 1.9 betfair. Elite League Ipswich V belle Vue +3.5 (2) 1.65 B and W This is the first Elite League match of the season. Ipswich are one of the weaker teams, but, home advantage in speedway is important. Peterborough, another weak looking team, have already won here, but, the home team were a little unlucky because of engine problems for their top man, Hans Andersen, who was restricted to just 5 points! that is unlikely to happen tonight, and along with Polish rider "Pepe" that is the spearhead of the team, with back up from Chris Louis. Reserve Daniel King could be useful for them, he scored 19 points in a premier league match ( second division) recently, and as a reserve can take up to 7 rides. Belle Vue are under new management this year, and they really do mean business, and will certainly have targeted this match for a likely away win. They are not the youngest kids on the block though, with no less than 3 veterans in the team, but, they all showed decent form in their home meeting recently. Stead and Bjerre are the younger riders, and both of them are capable of a good perfomance, add to that World Champion Jason Crump, and Belle Vue do look decent, it will not be easy though, but Belle Vue is the selection. my bet on this one is a smallish single. Still waiting to see what Stan James has on offer. B and W now go 1.9 about Belle Vue.

Re: Speedway Tonight Results: swindon 53 Poole 41 :ok A surprisingly easy win for Swindon, Poole did improve as the meeting progressed though, and the best is yet to come. Oxford 47 Wolverhampton 41 :ok Wolves came close to pulling off the biggest shock of the night, and led most of the way, Oxford came on strong late in the meeting though, and Wolves will be a little disappointed. Ipswich 48 Belle Vue 41 :( Belle Vue led most of the way, but, Ipswich finished the stronger and fully deserved the win. Belle Vue were badly let down by veteran Jason Lyons and the much younger Simon Stead, and they will get harder away matches than this! Must do better!
