4.40 Southwell Sarah Berry is pretty modest and yet to try this surface for all last time out was a better effort. Lord Buffhead won last time out but has never cut much mustard on the fibresand so easy to overlook. Exkaliber isn’t fully exposed like most of these yet and may still have a little more to offer, yet to try this surface and not had a run for over 200 days and record fresh isn’t great so probably worth taking on today. Beach Rhythm has tried this surface once and ran a respectable race, that was over 6f and drops back to 5f for only second time in career and that is a concern. For me this is a very weak race and Depden has to be of interest given his most recent try on this surface where he ran a good race. Little bit hit and miss since but maybe this surface is the key to him. Very useful apprentice takes over and takes a handy 5lb off and drawn high which can often help over the straight 5f. 1pt e/w Depden 8/1 boyles 6.45 Southwell Decent handicap with several of these with good course form and in good form generally. Northside Prince is more than capable off this sort of mark and handles this surface but is currently going the wrong way and hard to see a turnaround at this stage of his career. Cosimo De Medici is 1 from 2 around her but his attitude has been questioned on more than one occasion and is usually worth taking on at present. Yasir won a claimer for this yard last time out, yet to try this surface but yard do well around here and worth considering giving he is handicapped to win but will need to step up on the claimer effort last time out back in a handicap. Slip Of The Tongue has progressed as most of Prescotts do going into handicaps and now searching for a 4 timer. He does run in snatches occasionally and that would be a worry on this surface in a stronger race. Wadaa is up 6lb for winning last time out on turf had previously thrown a wably on handicap debut so obvious concern she isn’t the most genuine at times but nothing wrong with the win last time out. Surface an unknown though. Picalily won nicely last time out on this surface, up 9lb for that effort in a much stronger race but still likely to go close with a decent claimer taking back 5lb of that rise. For me Proud Times looks massively overpriced. He bolted up over CD on penultimate start without coming off the bridle and even having to try. Up 9lb for that win but on the evidence of his last win he is very well handicapped and may still have more to offer back on this surface. Ran a respectable race on polytrack last time out and has been given sometime to freshen up and would be no surprise to see him go well back around here again and still 11lb below his best winning mark on this surface! 2pt e/w Proud Times 14/1 betfred 7.15 Southwell Not the best race of its sort with plenty of dead wood in it but potentially a good opportunity for one of these to pick up another race. Sudden Wish is largely consistent and handicapper is slow to relent and therefore remains 5lb above his only winning mark. Also yet to try this surface. Viennese Verse is unexposed and from a top yard but didn’t improve last time out on handicap debut and has a lot to prove for now after that effort. Lilly White is another that isn’t fully exposed, didn’t show much in maidens but appeared to improve last time out with all the usual headgear removed that all remains off tonight and now trys this surface for the first time. Nonaynever finally got a win on the board last time out on first try on this surface over this CD. That was continueing from a good effort on turf and looks to have found his feet. He had previously shown some promise in various races. Up 6lb for that win and based on some of his efforts earlier in his career still make him look well treated and the surface may just be the key to him and has to go well again. 2pt win Nonaynever 10/3 betfred

Re: Flat Racing Tues 27th Aug Johnston has a one in three strike race in 3yo maidens at Southwell so he has to be taken seriously whenever he runs one. China Creek has been disappointing on turf in his last 2 runs, struggling to get home over longer trips. His first run was arguably the best in this field when 2nd to Life Partner over 1m at Doncaster last month. Having her first run on the all weather will bring about improvement. Of the opposition I can only see one danger and that is Akeed Dubawi who was 3rd at Wolverhampton over 9f followed by a 2nd at Newmarket over 1m, both in maidens. In both of those races he has looked a weak finisher. Bearing in mind Johnstons record here and of course the fact that his horses are flying there can only be one clearcut selection - China Creek. 10 Points win China Creek 6/4 Stan James BOG 5.15 Ripon Generous Dream 10/3 Paddy Power BOG Generous Dream won this race last year on soft ground and carries only one pound more this time round. Wirh only 2 runs behind her this year, the last of those a staying on 6th at Newcastle over 14f earlier this month she can repeat last years success. 10 Points win Generous Dream 10/3 Paddy Power BOG 6.05 Ballinrobe Lady O'Malley 7/4 Paddy Power BOG Made all when winning here over course and distance earlier this month and followed up in a better race over this trip at Tipperary last Thursday over this distance.
