Flat Racing Monday 12th August

3.45 Wolverhampton Tough decision whether to have a bet in this race or not but hard to ignore one of these at the prices. Tactics could be interesting in this race aswell. Clear Pearl is probably the most obvious starting point having only had 4 starts and winning last time out on handicap debut at Yarmouth in a 5 runner event. Race rather fell apart that day and may find this tougher but is clearly on the upgrade and 4lb rise is very fair but is a very short price with that all in mind. Miss Avonbridge has a good record on polytrack, but handicapper has had his say and was just held off a 5lb lower mark so does need to improve from somewhere also reliant on a soft lead and unlikely to get that today. Silkelly is also an out and out front runner and should ensure a well run race she ran a better race last time out but yet to be tried on this surface. I am not totally convinced by Al Freej not convinced she is totally genuine, hasn’t been seen for over 3 months so well being taken on trust, also all wins have come from the front although has been ridden more patiently recently. She can also race over keenly and has come up short off this mark in the past. Amethyst Dawn is just too bigger price to ignore. She is a wonderfully consistent mare who has rejoined Alan Mccabe, she chased home a potentially live one last time out and pulled clear of the remainder of the field. She raced without the usual tongue tie in the end due to it coming loose at start and that has been left off again. She is up 3lb for that effort and 6lb above last winning mark but at her best she has won off marks 15lb higher on turf so not handicapped out of things. Tactically versatile and would ideally track a decent pace which she should get. 2 from 6 around here and her only polytrack wins have come here so has to be respected. 2pt win Amethyst Dawn 11/2 vc 4.15 Wolverhampton Race lacking much depth with most of these got plenty to prove. Excellent Jem has had 12 attempts at getting head in front a failed so far gone a bit closer recently but not the most reliable and blinkers need to bring out a bit more. Glenridding isn’t getting any younger but he got his head back infront at his beloved Thirsk, his other favourite course is around here with 6 wins from 34 starts. The 2nd badly let the form down at Southwell last week and a 6lb rise looks extremely harsh and not a regular winner these days. Powerful Pierre was well backed last time out and failed to pull in Reginald Claude who has since ran a stinker of a race under penalty so hardly promoted his chances given he now has to race off a 3lb higher mark, has won off higher marks but needs to show more to score again. Flowchart has won off this mark earlier in the year over 6f around here but not totally convinced over this trip in the past and appears to have gone badly off the boil. Direct Trade did catch the eye last time out meeting trouble in running before staying on well off this basement mark, step up in trip should suit based on that. Does now need to backup that up if he does everychance he could place. Its hard to looks past Angel Cake here she has really got her act together recently, she has scored like a good thing the last twice including over this CD on penultimate start and the extended 1m around here last time. 7lb higher here and drops back to 7f again but if in the same form she should prove very hard to beat despite yet again getting a poor draw. May be a favourite but looks good value at 9/4. 2pt win Angel Cake 9/4 bet365 5.20 Wolverhampton Interesting race and several of these are more than capable if bouncing back from poor runs last time out. Snow Hill was only beaten a head at haydock in July, but totally bombed next time out for no apparent reason. Has won off a 1lb higher mark in the past and first time blinkers need to bring about something after that poor run. AW debut aswell. Renegotiate suggested handicapper had him after his win next time out and has been uninspiring over hurdles since. Ty Gwr has joined a yard that do well from other yards cast offs, he won a maiden around here over the extended mile before winning a claimer over this trip at Kempton when last seen. Unusual this yard didn’t get straight on with him so his fitness is a major concern. Nolecce won last time out gone up 10lb for that but you can pick plenty of holes in that form and the 2nd is nothing but an absolute rogue so weak form and never won off a mark this high. Bravestar has shown nothing in 3 maidens, further step up in trip a positive but handicapper not taking too many chances off a mark of 72. Yard is becoming renowned for doing similar tricks as Prescott so worth a look in the market. Waahej had shaped as if he did return in much form but has slowly been working his way back after a long layoff chasing home a very well handicapped horse last time out up 2lb for that but is 4lb below last CD winning mark so folly to dismiss if taking another step forward which RPR’s suggest he is doing having gone from 23 on first run back to 41 and then 60 and then 68 last time out. 2pt win Waahej 5/1 hills

Re: Flat Racing Monday 12th August 5.15 Ballinrobe Tax Reform 9/4 Bet365 BOG Tax Reform who was beaten a nose over 7f at Galway staying on should win this over the extra 2f. His form is moderate but less moderate than his rivals. 10 Points win Tax Reform 9/4 Bet365 BOG 6.00 Thirsk Ribbleton 11/10 Bet365 BOG Ribbleton beaten a nose on debut over 6f at Carlisle last month has a bad draw but an extra furlong to help him. He can further enhance the trainer's record in this race which stands at 3/5. 10 Points win Ribbleton 11/10 Bet365 BOG 2.30 Ayr Lovelocks 10/11 Paddy Power BOG Lovelocks, made her debut at Ascot last month and ran on late into mid division. That run sets the standard and she ought to win here if connections have designs on running her in some of the Group 1s in which she holds entries. 10 Points win Lovelocks 10/11 Paddy Power BOG 4.30 Ayr Szabos Art 5/6 Paddy Power BOG Szabos Art improved markedly for the step up in trip and switch to handicaps. Despite swishing the tail she should win this race which is no better than the one which she won at Nottingham this month. 10 Points win Szabos Art 5/6 Paddy Power BOG
