Pires who arguably has the best form was 3rd in a Curragh handicap lto. His stable has hit form too and he is feared. However the one that they all have to beat is Knockroghery who won well over 14f on the Flat on Thursday in Bellewstown having won prior to that on the flat in Roscommon. A week before she was a good second to Elliotts Shadow Catcher. She loves fast conditions and is in foal which may even bring about more improvement. Her trainer's attitude of striking while the iron is hot should pay dividends.

Re: Jump Racing Sun 7th July Sun 7th Jul 2013 4.15 Market Rasen (11 runners) Don Noble Handicap Hurdle Class 2, 2m3f , Good, 4yo+, Win: £9747 1) LOCAL HERO (144) - Most of wins been at 2m1f (but further may suit) and bit of a question mark over the drying ground. 2/2 here though (both listed events) but with 10lb claimer on both times, looks high enough in the weights today. Still, one for the shortlist, though after two respeciable performances in group events. 2) FIRST IN THE QUEUE (132) - Winner in a Cl3 event LTO at Aintree, AP on board again (who is 4/6 on im) but this sort of mark being prohibitive in the past and only two u/p races past 2m1f. 3) CAPE EXPRESS (131) - Scored a 4 timer last year but then seemingly a bit out of depth in two subsequent u/p runs. 4) SMALIB MONTERG (131) - One of only 4 horses to have won at at least the distance. Did win when last seen over hurdles though but is up 8lbs for that to career high hurdle mark. Jockey 4/6 on him but 0/14 on right handed courses. 6) RUMBLE OF THUNDER (128) - Trainer in good recent form and has been consistent of late. Has won off 128 in 2011 but not sure ground is suited to him (0/9 on GF). 1st time cheekkpieces. 7) KAYAAN (127) - Likes it round here with a course record not to be sniffed at (24133331). Won round here over C&D LTO and now up to a mark which has seen him struggle in the past. 8) CARAVEL (127) - Hard to accurately asses, has been chasing recently without much success and hurdle form patchy at best. All wins have been at Cl3 or lower and probably best left alone. 9) FORRESTERS FOLLY (124) - Won a maiden hurdle at Ascot in April and did OK at Taunton in similar event NTO. This looks tough. 10) SWAMPFIRE (124) - Not been seen since December when 4th in a listed event. Goes well fresh, but others prefered. 11) VAVITE (123) - Very consistent mare who is in great form, drops in trip and has no claimer on board today which is a worry as is effectively 15lb higher than LTO. 12) MOJOLIKA (120) - Won twice at Carlisle in last two outings and up 12lbs for latest. Could have further improvement in him and Trainer jockey have 60% SR in last year. ======================== An absolutely fascinating race and one which I am really looking forward to seeing how it pans out. The bottom weight looks worth a punt at 17/2. MOJOLIKA is only 7 races into his NH career and has improved with every single run, winning her last two novice events at Carlisle, the last one in a very nice fashion by 12L. The ground should pose no problems and she should get the trip. Today is a big step up for him but he could just have enough improvement in him and it's a chance I'm willing to take against this opposition, many of whom seem somewhat exposed. Secondly, I have been tempted by the 25/1 available on VAVITE which looks big for a horse as consistent as her. This does look tough, but she's one who is fairly lightly raced, especially in handicaps and one who has at least experience over this trip and further.
