Flat Racing Saturday 8th June

4.00 Navan Stepwise 15/8 Paddy Power A fasinating race with just 4 runners. Nandiga after winning a maiden at the curragh ran in a listed, group1 and group2 and didn't disgrace herself either. Having her first run of the season here but looks more of a sprinter. Won Diamond won a maiden at Dundalk and then finished 3rd in a handicap at the curragh over a mile. Forester finished 3rd to Dawn Approach in the first 2yo race over 5f at the curragh last year and a couple of weeks later won a maiden easily over 6f at leopardstown. Hasn't been seen since but holds a July Cup entry. I wonder whether this is his trip? I can't have him as he has been off too long. Stepwise finished a promising 3rd in a curragh maiden last year just 1 length behind the stable's Irish Derby hopeful Zand who finished 2nd on that occasion. He then bolted up in a maiden over this course and distance and holds an entry in a group 3. Considering the stable was not in form when he won and the manner of his victory suggests improvement. He has shown he has trained on and although the stable has been quiet lately I expect that to change shortly. I also expect him to start a short priced favourite here so 15/8 looks massive against types who have too many question marks. Maximum Confidence 10 points win. Stepaside 10 points win 15/8 Paddy Power Good luck!

Re: Flat Racing Saturday 8th June 2:05 Haydock: Palazzo Bianco 1pt win 9/1 Bet 365 & Castilo Del Diablo 1pt win 9/1 Stan James Palazzo Bianco ran pretty well in this last year off the same mark of 86 however he is effectively five pounds lower with top apprentice Robert Tart's claim. Palazzo Bianco is in good form following his win at Goodwood and with a slightly more restrained ride this year he could go close. Castilo Del Diablo could well step up on his first outing of the season where he was behind Sun Central, he gets a pull at the weights, yet its more likely that that the pipe opener will bring about improvement and with David Simcock Castilo Del Diablo should take a hand. 3:30 Newmarket: Signed Up 1pt win 12/1 Bet Victor With Amanda Perrett in such fine form the eye is drawn to Signed Up. This four year old colt has only had four starts and there is surely more to come. Hopefully he will be ready to go today, and at the price he looks worth chancing. Has an entry in the Northumberland Plate. 3:50 Haydock: City Girl 1pt win 9/1 Paddy Power City Girl ran pretty at Newbury first time up this season and she could be a filly going places. Ralph Beckett is certainly going well at the moment with his Classic success and Jim Crowley takes the ride. The going should suit City Girl and she looks a little overpriced.
