DeanK
[h=1]Doomben Betting: Lights Of Heaven shoots for 3 in a row in the Kirks Doomben Cup[/h] DOOMBEN RACE 7 @ 3:40pm AEST: The Kirks Doomben Cup is a Group 1 2000m race at Weight For Age conditions where the 4.1 favourite with Betfair is LIGHTS OF HEAVEN. HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: Speed looks fair. GINGA DUDE appears the only genuine leader on paper but there are a handful of runners who like to settle on the pace, they include, BEATEN UP, HIPPOPUS, LIGHTS OF HEAVEN, FIBRILATION and LITEINTHENIGHT. MANIGHAR can go forward or back the remainder of the field settle midfield or beyond in a race where all runners should get their chance barring track bias and luck. RACE ANALYSIS: LIGHTS OF HEAVEN showed a tonne of courage to win the Hollindale last start at Gold Coast. She was back in distance which wasn’t suitable and she looked a fraction flat footed when the sprint went on but found something late in the race to win. She steps up in distance to the 2000m, which is arguably her best distance. She was placed in this race last year, looks like getting the perfect run from the barrier and is a proven weight for age performer. BEATEN UP is terrific value at the 11’s on offer. He’s just starting to find his feet after 3 runs in Australia after coming over from England. He’ll sit on the pace and the 2000m suits ideally. http://www.betzone.com.au/doomben-betting-lights-of-heaven-shoots-for-3-in-a-row-in-the-kirks-doomben-cup-20130520
DeanK
Re: Doomben Betting 18/05/2013 [h=1]Doomben Betting: Solzhenitsyn drops in class and looks a good thing in the Carlton Mid Lord Mayors Cup[/h] DOOMBEN RACE 4 @ 1:55pm AEST: The Carlton Mid Lord Mayors Cup is a 1600m Group 3 race at Weight For Age conditions where the 2.5 favourite with Bet365 is SOLZHENITSYN. HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: The speed looks ok with 3 potential leaders in EPIC, VOILA ICI and TRANSPORTER. Michael Rodd will have to make a decision whether he rides SOLZHENITSYN cold or he pushes forward and tries to slot in somewhere near the speed from the tricky barrier. ONETIMEATBANDCAMP and WHATHAPPENEDHENRY can settle handy while the remainder of the field settle midfield and beyond in a race where all runners will get their chance barring bad luck and track bias. RACE ANALYSIS: This looks SOLZHENITSYN’s race pending track conditions. He’s had a slightly interrupted preparation this time in only managing 3 starts in just less than two months. This is mainly due to the fact that he’s been avoiding rain affected tracks as he does not handle them. In the first run of his preparation he ran an absolute corker in the Canterbury Stakes where he sat 3 wide for the majority of the race before finishing in sectionals quicker than Pierro, which is premium form. He then ran on a Slow 7 surface which was a total forgive run before being scratched from the Doncaster. He was 1 month between runs and 1500m to 1800m in the Hollindale and ran well considering. Today he drops back a race weaker than Group 1 or 2 for the first time in 8 starts, gets to his pet track of Doomben where he has won 5 of 7 and gets to his favourite distance of 1600m where he is 3 from 6. Other than the track conditions the only concern is the barrier but Michael Rodd is a star and I think he will overcome it. http://www.betzone.com.au/doomben-betting-solzhenitsyn-drops-in-class-and-looks-a-good-thing-in-the-carlton-mid-lord-mayors-cup--20130520
