Looks a very exciting new trainer with some good horses and backing. Has had an excellent start to the season with 3 winners from 7 horses on the turf and has been backed by Qatar Racing/Pearl Bloodstock member Sheikh Fahad al Thani and is training at Robins Farm in Surrey. Useful Links and information for Olly Stevens. Website - http://robinsfarmracing.com/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/RobinsFarmRacin Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/RobinsFarmRacingLtd Pearl Bloodstock - http://www.pearlbloodstock.com/ Qatar Racing - http://www.qatarracingltd.com/ One runner in the Thirsk Hunt Cup (16.35) over 1 mile with Jacob Cats ridden by Harry Bentley. Unfortunately has the outside draw of 15 from 15 runners. Bought this year from Richard Hannons Stable for Pearl Bloodstock for 240,000 Guineas, so clearly expect to win races. Going to take a big run to win this highly competitive race. Current record is 4 wins from 7 all at one mile on GF ground including a class 2 at Newmarket. Has not done well on seasonal debut previously and may just need a run to get peak fitness. 16 declared but now 1 NR so will not have a bet in this but certainly a horse to follow this year. Would of had a Each Way bet (Best current odds of 7\1 Bet365 BOG) but price drifting and only paying 3 places for 15 runners, so No Bet just a watching brief. 04-05-2013, 17:29 #162 Jacob Cats never got into a good position breaking from the widest stalls and was always behind. Harry Bentley looked to be hard at work trying to get the horse into a good position but got nowhere. Never in the race at any point. Finished 14th of the 15 runners. A very poor performance. Glad did not have a bet. SP was 13/2. 04-05-2013, 22:30 #164 One runner Sunday at Newmarket in the 16.25 Mafki Future Stars maiden stakes. Green Door is a one raced colt who was 4th on debut at Newbury. Hung badly that day but that experience could put him near the front in this race against 8 rivals who have not run before and one who was a further length behind. The trainer Olly Stephens has had one 2yo winner this season from 5 runs (4 horses). Looks a hot 2yo maiden with the top trainers having entries for big owners. Watching brief on this one but will monitor prices in the morning. Might be worth an each way bet depending on odds. 05-05-2013, 12:11 #166 Best price 4\1 and drifting slightly. Think will finish in 1st 3 so 1pt win with StanJames @ 4\1 BOG. 05-05-2013, 17:35 #167 Green Door 1pt win @ 4\1 StanJames BOG won at SP of 9\2! Return of 5.5pts. Made virtually all the running and crossed quickly to the rail after the start. Jockey Jim Crowley looked in command all race and was never put under pressure. Improved from 1st run and could prove to be a useful colt. One for the notebook. 05-05-2013, 18:26 #169 One runner for Monday at Warwick in the 14.35 Maiden Fillies Stakes - Queen Of The Tarts Queen Of The Tarts has raced twice finishing 6th at Kempton on the AW on debut but hung badly to the left. Looked a little one paced. Next up was at Windsor where finished 3rd and led early on showing good pace after breaking well from the stalls but started to wonder left again on the soft ground. Will be suited better at Warwick a left handed course but will need to break well from the stalls and get to the rail, a difficult task with the outside stall 8. Apprentice jockey Robert Tart claiming 5lb on board today but this filly does not look a straight forward ride and would have preferred a more experienced jockey on board. 3 other fillies with racecourse experience and a Richard Hannon filly making her debut. Watching brief only for this one and no bet. 06-05-2013, 20:57 #173 Veered badly to right out of stalls but recovered well to challenge for the lead. Lost position around bend and went backwards in the field. Once on the final straight started to wonder a little but seemed to stay on up to the winning post to finish 4th of 7. Has shown good early speed in last two races and will probably improve for this run but will need a good strong jockey on board as tends to veer and wonder about during races. 08-05-2013, 16:46 #174 Two possible entry's for Saturday. Hard Walnut at Lingfield in a Group 3 Fillies Stakes race - Unlikely to take up entry and looks totally out of her depth. But will check final declarations. School Fees at Ascot in a 6f class 4 handicap. A 4yo filly who was with Henry Candy last year and has a decent record in 12 races so far with 2 wins, 2 seconds and 5 thirds. Has won 2 class 5 races at 6f and won LTO at Doncaster in a fillies handicap. Richard Hughes is provisionally booked. Will be worth a closer look if declared. 09-05-2013, 19:24 #175 Both declared for Saturdays racing and will look at both of these in turn. Hard Walnut a 3yo filly with 5 runs this year for new trainer Olly Stevens, all on the all-weather at 6f with 2 wins, 2 seconds and a fourth place. The 2 wins and 2 seconds were at C5 and the fourth in C4 handicap. Four of these runs were at Lingfield and course form is 2141. Last year this filly was with Ger Lyons in Ireland and had 4 turf runs with form of 5546 starting at 6f on debut, 2 races at 7f and last turf race at 8f. OR is 76 a long way behind the top filly's lining up with the top rated at 107. 8 of the 11 declared runners are OR 95+. Harry Bentley has the ride but owners retained jockey Jamie Spencer is on another horse. This race is a G3 fillies race over 7f and Hard Walnut would have to show mega improvement (20lb+) to even stand a chance of troubling any of the other horses in this race. Can not find any reason that this filly would be worth a bet. Looks to be totally outclassed. Prize money is down to 6th but still think this is beyond this horse. Will be worth following at a lower level. Early price available from PP is 33\1 but this is a definite no bet! School Fees a 4yo filly is entered in a 6f class 4 handicap with 26 runners at Ascot and champion jockey Richard Hughes is booked to ride for the first time for Olly Stevens. Has the number 1 draw on a course that looks to slightly favour low numbers but little data to go on with big fields. Maybe best to wait for the Victoria Cup run half an hour earlier over 7f with 29 runners to get an idea of best ground and draw advantages. School Fees has had 10 runs on turf with a record of 2 wins, 2 seconds and 4 thirds with the last 8 races all been at 6f. Has raced on ground ranging from Soft (3rd of 11) to Good to Firm (3rd of 9). 2 wins have been on Good and Good to Soft ground. Both wins have been in C5 races of a OR of 74 and 75. Races of OR 78 in this race. LTO at Doncaster School Fees won a 6f class 5 fillies handicap staying on strongly in the final furlong after been near the rear for the first 5f to win a bunched finish by a head with 1L separating the first 4. Was raised 2lb for this win. The runner up Al Freej was 2nd next time out, the 3rd was 6th next time out and the 4th was 10th next time out. Form of that win for School Fees looks nothing special. Olly Stevens has had a good start to the season and looks to have got improvement from this filly from its seasonal debut run on the All-weather at Kempton. A video from his website http://robinsfarmracing.com/ show a recent gallop with Hard Walnut (running at 4pm in a G3 at Lingfield (AW)) and School Fees with both horses looking good with School Fees looking the stronger of the 2 fillies in the gallop up the hill. A good run from Hard Walnut at Lingfield would increase confidence in this horse as both are equally matched on OR. Hard Walnut OR 76 and School Fees OR 78. Will probably have an each-way bet on this horse as she has has the potential to win, a strong jockey booking of Richard Hughes and has winning form on ground (unless turns heavy) and this distance but Olly Stevens will need to get some more improvement from this filly to win this race. Will update Friday night or Saturday with prices and any bets. Saturday, 00:17 #179 No real clues from draw from Ascot races Friday night but feel that School Fees is worth an each way bet. 0.5pts EW 1/4 odds first 4 @ 14\1 Bet365 BOG. Best price available with Betvictor @ 16\1. Hard Walnut now available @ 50\1 with Betvictor and Corals. Definite no bet!

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Lingfield 16.00 - Hard Walnut Was going to leave this race alone but now 3 non-runners make this a 8 runner field. 0.5 pt EW @ 33\1 Bet365 Still give this little chance but place odds greatly increased and the ground changes make this a more interesting race.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Hard Walnut finished plum last! Should have stuck with the definite No Bet! SP of 33\1. Actually ran a good race for the first 5f breaking well out of the stalls for Jockey Harry Bentley and showed good early speed to dispute lead with eventual 3rd Intense Pink and these 2 were clear for the first 5f. Then got swallowed up as the whole field came past and dropped to the back and was tailed off in the last furlong with the jockey probably not pushing the horse as clearly beat. 3yo's have to be something special to beat older horses at this time of year and the soft ground clearly caused Hard Walnut to tire after such a determined effort in the opening stages. Just did not stay the 7f on this ground. Will be worth following when dropped back to 5f/6f in a lower grade either on the AW or on better ground against horses her own age.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow School Fees finished 4th of 25 runners in this handicap for a place return of 2.25pts. Split into two groups after breaking from the stalls and School Fees was in the far side group which proved to be the winning group with the 9 of the first 10 coming from this group (near side had 6th). Race Replay does not show much so have quoted Sporting Life and Racing Post race comments for School Fees. Sporting Life Race Comments "Raced far side, held up, headway 2f out, ridden and chased leaders over 1f out, stayed on under pressure inside final furlong, not pace of leading trio opened 11/1" Racing Post Race Comments "Raced far side, headway over 1f out, stayed on, not reach leaders" Opened on course betting at 11\1 and was backed into 8\1 2nd Fav.

Just seen that she was put into do pace making duties for Majestic Oasis! Wish this was revealed before the event! Does explain why she pinged out of the stalls and raced at the front for the first 5f before fading away in the last 2f. Obviously connections never intended to ride out the filly for a finish.

3 Early Entries for next week at York. Will look at in more detail when final declarations are made. Extortionist (2yo B C) with Harry Bentley provisionally booked on Wednesday 15th in a class 3 2yo novice stakes. Won at Nottingham on debut under Jim Crowley. The Art Of Racing (3yo B G) in a class 2 3yo conditions stakes race over 5f on Thursday 16th. Bottom on OR of 82 with 8 of the 12 entered rated 95+. Hoku also entered twice more this week. At York and Newmarket on Friday. Will probably run this week. The Art of Racing also entered at York on Friday. Green Door entered on Friday at Newmarket in a Novice stakes race.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Extortionist is declared for the 16.25 at York on Wednesday on a 5f class 3 Novice stakes race for 2yo's with Harry Bentley taking the ride. This Bay Colt (DOB - 04/02/11) won on debut at Nottingham over 5f in a class 5 maiden stakes on good ground with Jockey Jim Crowley on board. Was close up until the half way point before starting to pull away from the field and quickened through the last furlong to win comfortably 3l clear of 2nd and over 6l clear of the rest of the field. Will improve further for that debut win and 6th that day has since come out and won its next race at Beverley by 6l. 7 winners and one horse making its racecourse debut (8 runners declared) makes this a tough looking race with the Hannon/Hughes runner Steventon Star likely to be favorite. However Stevens 2yo's are looking good and his runners all look fit and I would give Extortionist a good chance of success.

Hannon's horse is favourite as expected but Bet365 opened at 6\1 for Extortionist which lasted half an hour, gutted to miss the early price. Now best priced at 9\2. Managed to grab some 5/1 EW from Bet365 on mobile at work but will not count this thread. 0.5 Pts EW Bet365 @ 9\2 BOG is the bet for the purpose of this thread. I expect Extortionist to finish in 1st three. Slight loss if placed but have the BOG in case it drifts pre-race. This is probably the best 2yo race of the season so far and the winner will probably be Royal Ascot bound.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Extortionist was 4th of 7 runners sent of 2nd favourite @ 5\2. Looked to be a little keen early on but up with the pace and was leading at half way point. Into the last furlong was headed and looked to be weakening in the final stages. 2 to 3 lengths behind the Hannon winner Steventon Star. The first 4 were well clear of the rest of the field. Probably going to need better ground but should win a race again this season probably at 5f.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Hoku is declared for 13.45 at York on Friday 17th in a Listed 2yo Fillies race over 5f. Hoku a Bay Filly (DOB - 19/02/11) was 3rd at Windsor on good ground over 5f. The winner of that race Quatuor won next time out in the Lilly Agnes stakes at Chester and reopposes again. Can not see Hoku improving enough to beat Quatuor. 14 runners declared for this race with 9 having won (6 on turf and 3 on AW). Jamie Spencer rode Hoku on debut but switches to one of the owners other horses in the race. The opposition looks to strong and Hoku would need to improve massively to figure and take this event. Looks out of her depth. No Bet just a watching brief for this one.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow The Art Of Racing is declared for the 15.50 On Friday 17th in a Class 3 handicap for 3yo over 5f. This Bay Gelding raced 3 times as a 2yo for trainer Richard Hannon in 2012 with a maiden win in his 2nd race at York over 5f in a class 3 on good to firm ground with jockey Harry Bentley on board. Two races this year under Olly Stevens, 2nd (OR 78) on seasonal debut at Nottingham beaten a head at 5f on good ground by Mayfield Girl in a 5f class 4 for 3yo. Mayfield Girl followed up in another 5f class 3 for 3yo. The Art Of Racing followed up with a win at Ripon over 5f in a class 4 on good ground (OR 79). Has looked strong at the finish and looks suited to 5f but a step up in class for this race. Has a low draw of 4 which does not look to have any advantage with 20 runners declared but a few NR may give a slight advantage to the low numbers. Harry Bentley has had the ride both times this year and gets the leg up at York again keeping the ride despite the owners retained jockey Jamie Spencer been available. The Art of Racing has a chance in this highly competitive sprint, looks to have a decent OR of 82 having started the season on 78 which looks as if there is room for further improvement. Should beat Mayfield Girl on the better terms. Would think has a good chance of a Win/Place and an Each way Bet.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Got that wrong with Hoku! Finished 2nd at SP 15\2. Ran a really good race. Has held up in the rear and started to make a run 1f out and kept going to take 2nd on the line. Had no chance with the winner. Will be another to keep an eye on.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Monday 20th May - 18.40 Windsor - Maiden Fillies Stakes for 2yo Yellow Lady a bay filly (DOB - 09/03/11) is declared for this 6 runner race with Harry Bentley taking the ride. Not much to go on but Olly Stevens has done well with 2yo's this season with 2 wins, 1 2nd and 2 thirds from 9 runs this year. Forecast price is about 5\1 and hopeful of a good run. With only 6 runners and no price available will not have a bet yet. Will hopefully have time tomorrow to check prices and possibly make a bet.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Green Lady finished 3rd of 5 runners @ SP 8\1 in this 5 runner race. Broke well from stalls but looked inexperienced (as expected) and raced with leaders until 1f out when the winner pulled away to win easily. Was nearly 9l lengths adrift of winner. Will run better next time out but probably not speedy enough for 5f and looked very one paced in the closing stages.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow One Runner Thursday, another 2yo Debut for Mystique Rider with Harry Bentley on board in the 18.10 at Salisbury in a 5f Maiden. Most of Olly Steven's 2yo have needed there first run but have usually run well in defeat. One winner so far first time out. 9 runners in this maiden and if no more than one non-runner could be worth an each way bet. Will look at prices in the morning but this looks a potential bet. Do not know a lot about the horse as no expert on pedigree.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Mystique Rider is a massive drifter on the markets this morning and having opened @ 9\1 with Bet365 is now available at 18\1. Usually there has been some market confidence for Olly Stevens 2yo runners. Looks a difficult race with the Channon favorite and Hannon 2nd favorite both likely to be in the mix at the finish, the other 7 will possibly be battling for the remaining place. Unless there is some market confidence nearer the race time will stick to a watching brief.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Mystique Rider ran an excellent debut to finish 3rd of 9 in the Maiden Stakes at Salisbury. Drifted all day in the betting and was returned with at an SP of 25/1. Was in the rear initially after getting a wide draw and looked to be held up by his jockey. Started to make a move 2f's out on the outside and made good progress to be in with a chance of challenging. No extra near home but finished well. Trainer Olly Stevens reported on face book after.... "Another nice 2yo first time starter: Mystique Rider finished 3rd in a competitive heat at Salisbury from a draw that was less than ideal. Tenderly ridden and professional in his demeanor we should be seeing plenty more of this DBS breeze up purchase."

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow One runner Saturday at Goodwood another 2yo debut. Floating Ballerino is a 2yo gray colt declared in the 14.35 class 4 maiden stakes over 6f. Looks to have some stamina in his breeding so should be fine over the trip. Harry Bentley takes the ride. 11 due to go to the post and will probably be an each-way bet. As previously stated Olly Stevens 2yo's are running well and often run a good race. From 11 runs (6 runners)this year with 2yo's has had 2 winners, 1 2nd and 4 thirds. Will probably take a price in the morning.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow The Art Of Racing is declared for the 16.25 on Monday 27th in a Class 4 handicap for 3yo over 5f. This Bay Gelding raced 3 times as a 2yo for trainer Richard Hannon in 2012 with a maiden win in his 2nd race at York over 5f in a class 3 on good to firm ground with jockey Harry Bentley on board. Two races this year under Olly Stevens, 2nd (OR 78) on seasonal debut at Nottingham beaten a head on good ground by Mayfield Girl in a 5f class 4 for 3yo's. Mayfield Girl followed up in another 5f class 3 for 3yo's. The Art Of Racing followed up with a win at Ripon over 5f in a class 4 on good ground (OR 79). Has looked strong at the finish and looks suited to 5f, ground looks to be of no concern and now runs off OR 82. Harry Bentley has had the ride both times this year and is on board at Windsor again. 5 Runners in this sprint and has a good chance of another win. Holds an entry in the Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap) at Royal Ascot and is available at 33\1 but 3yo's do not have a good record in this race and would be a hugh rise in class to figure. 1pt Win @ 5\2 PP BOG

Hostile Takeover (DOB - 26/4/11) is chestnut colt running for the 1st time at Kempton in 17.55 a 5f maiden stakes. 5 runners with 2 having run before and early betting forecast is 3rd fav. Olly Stevens 2yo's are best watched on debut but usually run a good race. Apprentice Charles Bishop claiming 5lb has his first ride for the stable. Watching brief again.

Re: Olly Stevens - New Trainer To Follow Hostile Takeover was very disappointing finishing plum last at an SP of 14\1. Was very slowly away and never got close and finished 13L behind the winner. Not likely to trouble the judge any time soon.
