Flat Racing 29th April

Recommended Posts

2.20 Wolverhampton Not hard to look past a few of these in what looks a weak race. Silly Billy is hard to win with but is knocking at the door, Unlimited is another running to a reliable level without winning, Glenridding has slipped a fair way in the weights but for a good reason and needs to show more. Its hard to look past Moss Hill after running a tough race on handicap debut last time out going down by a short head to Romanticize who runs in the first division of this handicap over this CD last time out. He also had Unlimited behind him that day and a lb turnaround in the weights should bring them closer but he is open to more improvement after just 4 runs. Charlie Hills yard continues in good form and they will certainly be expecting more from this runner than a class 6 handicap you would think. 2pt win Moss Hill 2/1 VC

Re: Flat Racing 29th April Windsor tonight 1st race - no bet on this, Hannon horse looks like it has already won and at odds of 1/5, unbackable 6.10 race, plenty of unraced 2yo's to have a look at. Hannon's horse has plenty of experience already and looks again destined to go close. Looking at the others, VARIAN has a decent strike rate here, in fact better than any other trainer in this race so anything he brings to Windsor must be noted. His win & place strike rate is over 60% so @ around 11/1 ORBISON could well be an interestt o some but is a NO BET race for me again. 6.40 Maiden race and trainer ED DUNLOP has a short favourite in the race. However, DUNLOP has a poor strike rate here only 4.55% and i wouldn't be touching this one even with Hughes on board (who by this time could be looking at a treble). Again, i'm not really interested in this race although if i was pushed, i would have some on STOUTES horse BEDOUIN INVADER 7.10 A handicap at last to look at! DUKE OF CLARENCE will not get the race run to suit tonight with its victory here on soft ground, the ground is drying out after a couple of decent sunny days in these parts. You need to be leading here or in front rank as the leaders dont come back to the field. Those prominent runners are STARWATCH and ISHIKAWA and these 2 could lead the others throughout. Ishikawa trained by Alan King who does ok here when he visits, has never won on turf (0 from 7) but won 5 times on the AW from 16 races, lastly off a mark of 74. Jockey SWEENEY has been in the saddle for all 5 wins and rides tonight. STARWATCH is stepping up in trip and has only won up to a mile. Last win was at Goodwood off OR 84 last june and with the claim tonight, the horse runs off OR79 so certainly capable of winning this off 5lb less. The young jockey Twiston-Davies is also having a decent start to the season so wont be surprised if this one goes close. The ground suits also but i wonder if they may take this one to either Epsom or Goodwood next as it acts on undulating tracks so keep an eye out. My bet in this race would be ISHIKAWA with a saver on STARWATCH. There is no value in the front 2 for me.

Re: Flat Racing 29th April Windsor contd

7.40 race Looks a tricky handicap to sort out, ATWAAL was another that won here on SOFT ground and i dont expect it to follow up on this faster surface. N KING the trainer has a record of 2 wins from 5 here at the track so worth watching him this season if he brings some horses here. REFRACTOR won off 79 on the AW and if they get this into a decent position in the field, this one could be thereabouts off a mark tonight of 74. Has reared up before so i am wondering if its worth an in play bet to see how it comes out. However, BUICK rising a 14/1 chance always interests me! CATHERINE GANNON is another jock who does well here and she rides BROWN PETE whose best turf win was off a mark of 60 so i cant see it being in the frame tonight but will note where it finishes as may win later in the season. DR LIVINGSTONE is a hold up horse and will be doing all its work at the finish especially with Hughes up top, may just not be enough to peg back PALOMAS PRINCE who has won here before and will get a lead at some point on these, did win its race here on soft but does lead and possibly may try to make all. Has won off 75 on AW and Turf now so a rise of 2lb may not peg it back. Favourite backers will be all over COUSIN KHEE a dual purpose horse but again the price puts me off a bit. For me, my bets would be
PALOMAS PRINCE
and a save again on
REFRACTOR
