Flat Racing 15th April

Recommended Posts

3.30 Newcastle Waltz Darling hasn’t won on the flat since debut and 2nd run on 2yr old day, has won over hurdles recently and ran well last time out at Doncaster but up 3lb for that effort and drop in trip doesn’t look ideal. Carragold comes from the Mel Brittian yard who seem to be coming to form, yards runners also often appreciate a run and he built dramatically on his reappearance last time out at Pontefract on a good mark but would be more at home at Beverley. Nadema Rose needs to step up on debut from this yard although 3rd not a strong race and beaten 13 lengths, 2lb lower but something to prove for now. Arc Light ran well in a maiden at Redcar after a long layoff, that was a very poor maiden and that form looks very weak still needs to prove this mark is a realistic one. Titus Bolt went off favourite for the Goldie team at Musselbrugh was fit from hurdling but was well beaten by Sartingo not sure a step up in trip will bring about improvement given how he ran that day. A chance is taken on Nonaynever for the Ruth Carr team who also seem to be going well with most of there runners improving for a run, he only has 4 runs to date after a lengthy layoff this is his 3rd run so should be reaching fitness and he ran an improved race dropped into handicaps last time out only beaten just under 3lengths and that form working out well with the winner winning again and 5th has run well aswell. Has been kindly dropped 2lb and if progressing again on turf he looks a huge price for a prominent runner around here. 1pt e/w Nonaynever 10/1 bet365 5.30 Windsor Burnham looks a very a short price despite running well last season he looked held off this sort of mark last winning off a mark 11lb lower so has something to prove this although did run well fresh last season course form always a plus and his last win was around here. Boston Blue’s well being is atleast known and he recently won over hurdles and ran well in an amateur race last time out at Donny up a 1lb and will need to step up again to be involved and would probably prefer better ground. Attwaal won on AW last time out but yet to prove himself as effective on turf enough to look elsewhere. Into The Wind really improved last year to land 2 handicaps including one over CD, hard to say whether new mark or heavy ground was against her last time out, record fresh not great but yard in good form one to watch. For me Bernisdale could go very well, she made all at Wolverhampton time before last over this trip, ran a very respectable race under penalty last time out over slightly short and at Lingfield. 1lb lower today and back up in trip and Spencer back on board and he can be very clever on front runners. She also has plenty of course form with 2 wins from 5 and won off a 1lb higher mark around here aswell. 2pt win Bernisdale 3/1 bet365

Re: Flat Racing 15th April 5.30 Newcastle Dick Bos, a handicap debutant, is just 13/8. For sure, he could be anything but no way am I taking that sort of price. Steel Stockholder isn't much value either. Won well lto but raised 6lb, however has never followed up a win & is thoroughly exposed as a 7yo. The one I like is the 9yo Docofthebay. No doubt he's getting on a bit but is still running well with a win & 2nd at Southwell in his last 4 runs, sandwiched between that a good 5th in a Listed heat. Ran in the Spring Mile lto, finished midfield but I'll upgrade that run as he had the worst of the draw, the ground was too soft him & is better suited by a furlong shorter. Today, he faces that furlong shorter, at 7f, has slightly better ground (good to soft / good) and has been dropped 3lb to his lowest mark for 6 years as well as 2 grades. Is race fit and has some excellent Topspeed figures to back up his good performances whilst jockey booking looks significant for a trainer who sends just 1 to the meeting. For a former 100+ handicapper, 9/1 is too big a price to ignore and rates a good EW bet. Docofthebay, 9/1 William Hill
