DeanK
[h=1]Flemington Betting: Callanish gets down in the weights and looks a terrific winning chance in the Lort Smith Animal Hospital Handicap[/h] FLEMINGTON RACE 5 @ 2:50pm AEST: The Lort Smith Animal Hospital Handicap is a 1600m race for 3 year olds and upwards where the 4.4 favourite with Bet365 is SHARALAM. HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: The speed looks ok but the field should sort its order out quickly as there is 3 genuine on-pacers (maybe 4 with SHOUT OUT LOUD) and the rest of the field like to settle midfield and beyond. The main 3 on-pacers are BRITISH GENERAL, CALLANISH, and STAR OF GISELLE, either one of that trio will lead from SHOUT OUT LOUD. The rest of the field settle midfield or beyond in a race where being on speed might be advantageous. RACE ANALYSIS: CALLANISH gets his chance to win a race here back to 1600m and down in the weights. He resumed this preparation with a fair bit of hype surrounding him after winning his first 8 starts. He was thrown in the deep end of the Group 1 Orr over 1400m were he wasn’t disgraced, finishing just 3 lengths from All Too Hard giving him 3.5kgs. He then lumped 59kgs when finishing 3rd behind Launay and BRITISH GENERAL at the 1400m before running well again without winning in the Blamey, finishing 0.7L off potential superstar PUISANCE DE LUNE and BUDRIGUEZ who has since won again. He can then be forgiven for his first crack at 2000m where he over raced and possibly didn’t run the trip right out. Today as mentioned he drops back to 1600m and gets in well at the weights after Tom Sandlers claim carrying just 55.5kgs. He should be able to box seat here behind BRITISH GENERAL who is a question mark at the trip and STAR OF GISELE who is conceding weight to the boys. http://www.betzone.com.au/flemington-betting-callanish-gets-down-in-the-weights-and-looks-a-terrific-winning-chance-in-the-lort-smith-animal-hospital-hand
DeanK
Re: Flemington Betting 13/04/2013 [h=1]Flemington Betting: Chris Waller to continue his outstanding record with imports in the Community Raceday Handicap[/h] FLEMINGTON RACE 8 @ 4:50pm AEST: The Community Raceday Handica is a 1400m race for horses rated between 0-89 where the 5.0 favourite with Betfair is RUGGED CROSS. HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: Doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed here. THE NEW BOY probably shoots across from the wide gate to lead from SCAREDYMAC, LITTLE BRO, LASPIEL and possibly RUGGED CROSS who has drawn the inside and has Glen Boss on board who is likely to show initiative and go forward. The remainder of the field settle midfield or beyond in a race where the on-pacers look advantaged. RACE ANALYSIS: RUGGED CROSS was ultra impressive on his Australian debut in a 0-82 race at Sandown midweek. He sat 3 wide with no cover just shy of midfield for the majority of the trip, when asked to quicken by Glen Boss he did and got to the lead quite smartly before Boss went easy on him over the last 50m to make the margin a little closer than it probably should have been. Today he steps up in grade only marginally and stays down in the weights. He rises 100m is distance, which is a slight query as he might be looking for further but with Glen Boss riding, I am expecting an aggressive ride and for him to be too good. He does boast 2 listed placings over further in England and that is more than a lot of this field can boast. THE NEW BOY is coming off an 8 week freshen after a terrific preparation without winning. http://www.betzone.com.au/flemington-betting-chris-waller-to-continue-his-outstanding-record-with-imports-in-the-community-raceday-handicap-20130415
