BBOTD Tuesday 9th April

Recommended Posts

3.10 Pontefract - Queen Aggie 25/1 EW Corals BOG Interesting little race this with the market principles looking a little underpriced. Flashlight for example won nicely on the AW LTO but his turf form is well below and his sire has a significantly better AW S/R. Sanjuro looks like he could well be ahead of the handicapper but he looks to want further having previously won over 7f as a 2yo (at Sandown) and noted as staying on. Polski Max's yard are flying but his best form is on the AW or on heavy. This then brings me to my selection who could have an excellent chance on the pick of her form. She recorded the best TS of this lot by some way (87) and her the pick of her RPR's also look to give her a few lbs in hand. Her best form is over this trip on this ground and she has run well up in class (4th in Listed race on soft). Her first run this season can be ignored having been hampered and stumbling and with that outing under her belt she could prove to be significantly better than a 25-1 shot. Yard doing well, good claimer on board and the draw is also pretty good according to ATR.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th April 5:15 Ponterfract Syncopate @6/1 hills BOG Had this come through as an ATR tracker horse and my notes said "travelled really well, looked a sure fire winner turning in, then possibly idled before race fitness of his rivals kicked in" Really think it's a wise move of trainer to drop the horse back a furlong at a track like Ponty with it's steep climb uphill in the final couple of furlongs. One thing is for sure though is that nothing will be travelling better than Syncopate turning in and if it's received a fitness boost since it's last run (105 days prior to it's previous run so entirely possible) then given the turn of foot it showed turning in at lingfield lto then it could be away and gone up the hill before his rivals know what has happened. Also interesting to see that the RP notes that the slowly run pace at Lingfield lto wont have suited the horse but expect a strong pace here to suit much better, and whats also hugely interesting is that last season stalls 1 and 2 both enjoyed over 20% success rates regardless of trip or going. Has already been backed in from 8's and so it seems that connections had this race in mind after a pipe opener last week. Everything looks in place for a big run.
