ROSEHILL RACE 7 @ 4:00pm AEDT: The Tooheys New Golden Slipper is a 1200m Group 1 race for 2 year olds where the favourite 2.70 with Betfair is OVERREACH. HOW THE RACE WIL BE RUN: Looks high speed in this year’s edition of the Golden Slipper. From the inside OVERREACH, DOTHRAKI, SWEET IDEA, WHITTINGTON, ALL THE TALK, KUROSHIO and RUUD AWAKENING all push towards the lead. SIDESTEP and IL CAVALLO (if he gets a run) should camp just off the aforementioned bunch while the remaining runners settle midfield or beyond in a race where all runners will get their chance barring bad luck or track bias. RACE ANALYSIS: Interesting Golden Slipper with OVERREACH being sent out a short priced favourite after two dominant victories in her last two starts. With the likelihood of the track being rain affected high, the race becomes a touch more even and a mystery as only a couple of these runners have any wet track form to speak of. I think SIDESTEP will get the perfect run from the barrier behind what looks a hot speed. He was just touched out by CRITERION in the Black Opal two starts ago before an extremely strong win last week over the 1200m of the PAGO PAGO. In between those two runs he lost the rider in the Todman Stakes so he effectively has to run 3 weeks in a row which is the only question mark. ROSEHILL RACE 5 @ 2.35pm AEDT: The BMW is a 2400m Weight For Age race for 3 year olds and upwards where the 3.20 favourite with Bet365 is FIVEANDAHALFSTAR. HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: The speed looks ok here. FIVEANDAHALFSTAR should lead but HATHAS may apply some pressure as might the kiwi SANGSTER. KELINNI and LE ROI settle next in line from GATEWOOD who was ridden aggressively last start and it failed. The remainder of the field settle midfield or beyond in a race where all horses should get their chance barring bad luck or track bias. RACE ANALYSIS: MALUCKYDAY looks absolutely primed for this race and I think at the current price he is over the odds. He’s had 3 runs back after a solid but winless preparation in the spring. His first run back was a real eye catcher, when he resumed in the Futurity behind his star stable mate All Too Hard. He got back in the field before rocketing to the line over the unsuitable 1400m journey. He then went to the 1600m of the Blamey and produced a similar run before stepping up to a far more suitable distance of 2000m in the Ranvet, and closing faster than anything to finish 3^rd and put the writing on the wall for this particular race. The step up to 2400m suits; he’s been set for this and should get suitable speed to be able to run on. FIVEANDAHALFSTAR now has a string of 2^nd placings to his name after his Derby success in the spring. His last two have been against the older horses at Weight For Age where has was nutted on the line on both occasions. A fortnight ago he broke the field up from the front as he can do and at the 250m mark he looked home before tiring late.
